If some1 follows u, then either that person is spying on u or is after u(kidnapping). To escape such king of situations foll can be done:
1. try taking a busier route, people around u will make it safe for you
2. NEVER EVER got by a deserted road, it become too dangerous
3. Go straight to ur home or ur friends place or any other safe place, which ever is nearer

If you suspect someone is following you while driving, don't panic. If you are in an isolated area, drive to where there are lots of people or traffic. If you are able, try to record the licence plate number, remember what colour, size of car, how many doors, etc. (most women don't know make and model of cars) and get a look at the occupants of the car, especially the driver. If traffic allows you to position yourself beside this vehicle, look directly at the drive / occupants of the car you suspect is following you. If it's kids out for kicks, trying to scare someone, this may scare them off. If this vehicle bumps into you, do not stop and get out of the car. Drive to the nearest Police station or VERY PUBLIC place to seek help. Even if you have a flat tire, keep driving until you feel you are safe. IF YOUR GUT INSTINCT TELLS YOU SOMETHING DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT, GO WITH YOUR GUT INSTINCT AND REPORT IT RIGHT AWAY. It's better to find out you have nothing to worry about than to dismiss it as silly and find yourself in a dangerous situation.

This happened to me tonight. I made two U-turns in a residential area to make sure they were actually following me. Then I called my dad and my boyfriend who were coming from 2 different sides of town. We agreed to meet at the police station. I drove around extremely lighted areas in the city until my boyfriend arrived at the police station. The follower kept driving as I entered the station parking lot.

Try to get the car's make and model and license plate number if you can do so without endangering yourself.

The officers at the station told me to call the police if it happened again. An operator would stay on the line with me while a car would respond to my location and pull over the follower.

Pull into the slow lane.

Drive 10 mph lower than the speed limit, which will likely force the follower to pass. Try and make one more car pass you to come between you and the follower (now the leader). Once passed, make an unsignalled turn.

If he doesn't pass you, make three right turns and continue in the opposite direction.

If he's still behind you, pull into a gas station but don't turn off the car. Make eye contact with the attendant so he can see your fear. When follower gets out of his car, wait for him to take a few steps, then drive off.

If he's still behind you, maybe you dropped your wallet and he's trying to give it back.

If you have a cellphone, call 911 and find out where the nearest public safety center is. Don't try to out-run them and get into a wreck or whatever.
It may be a coincidence, it may be an officer in an unmarked car, or lots of other things. Also, don't get cute and slam on your brakes, or anything dangerous.
Traffic confrontations are dangerous, I remember the 2 CHP troopers off-duty going to court that got shot by an angry motorist they confronted.

If you are being "tailed" by a suspicious character, drive to a populated location and call 911. If you have a cellphone, call 911, tell the operator where you are headed and go to a populated location like a Denney's tell the hostess what is happening and call 911.

Back when my sister and I went 'cruising' after a movie, some bad old guys started tailing us (we thought we were going to meet our Waterloo). We drove into the underground parking lot of a police station. There were officers there, they rescued us (we left for home promptly as they surrounded the offenders' car).
A highly public place will do in a pinch.

Try to find somewhere very public to pull over to see if they go past. If they decide to start some kind of altercation the public and good lighting should deter them. If you upset someone and they are harrassing you I would goto a police station or fire station before you stop.

As tempting as it may be, don't slam on your brakes or jump out to confront them. You have no idea of their state of mind or if they are armed. Pick and choose your battles and know your enemy.

Take five consecutive turns. If they are still following you drive to a police station or public place where there are a lot of other people.

Roads are public places so you should expect to be followed by people most of the time.... now if you are doing laps around your house because you think some PI is tailing you it is a different story.

If your a big burly fella like me. You pull over. If they pull over, you then proceed to get out your weapon of choice and show them who's boss.
