That when they do a draft its for those who are ALREADY signed up for the military or they can randomly start picking people to send them? I heard you have to be signed up for the military so that they can send you. is this true? And that they will always leave the category of those who are only child last before drafting them? Explain to me a little about this I dont know and I am curious...thanks!

All men over the age of 18 have to enroll in the "selective service"... basically if there was a draft they've already got the list going. That was when you "signed up"... there won't be a draft though, don't let the alarmists worry you too much. It would be too unpopular to even try it.

Men over 18 have to sign up for selective service in the event that there is a draft. If a draft occurs it will be publicized. The military just doesn't pick people from selective service unless a draft is occuring.

The only way there will be a draft, is if there is a shortage of military needs, and all of the individuals that have already joined the military are not enough. Those that have gotten out of the military within the last 6 years will be called back to work first (these individuals are not in the military any longer but are called "inactive military"). They will also offer money incentives to retired and other individuals with past military experiences.

IF, after all those efforts are exhausted, they will then announce a draft if one is necessary.

HOPE this helps.

All men over 18 can be drafted, only if they have another sibling of the same gender. Women cannot be drafted, nor can they be drafted if their parent is widowed, if i'm correct.

A draft will never be reinstated. Unless WW3 happens, which It wouldn't any time soon.

For a draft to be reinstated, the government would have to use up all the reserves an all active military branches. Which is quite alot.

If the President of the U.S wanted to send 200,000 troops to Iraq, the draft still would not be reinstated, because we have many active duty troops an reserve troops already.

If you're worried about the draft being reinstated, don't be. Like I said a draft would never be reinstated unless we wen't into a massive war (World War).

There currently is no draft. If the Government starts to draft people, they can set the law up to do it however they want. Young men are currently required to "register" with the "selective service" when they turn 18. That way when we get a police state, (or a draft) the people in control will have lists of people that they can work with. As Paul Harvey said, "you can run, but you can't hide" Also, once a person has signed up for the military, he has signed away many rights and freedoms. The military has been known to forcibly extend the period of a persons enlistment. (unilaterally, that is without the person really being agreeable, but they had no choice in the matter)

A draft will only occur is Congress officially declares war and implements a 'Full Mobilization.'

A Full Mobilization removes all of the limits on military spending and the maximum size of the US military. It would also place the economy under to control of the government and set all economic priorities towards the production of war material. You would see rationing of civilian products and an effective end to the production of civilian goods not regarded as necessities.

The last time this happened was World War II.

All males must register within 30 days of their 18th birthday. My grandson got a notice in the mail not too long ago to register. I think my son did it for him over the internet.

There hasn't been a draft in this country for about 30-40 years and will not likely be reinstituted as we now have an all volunteer military. Things are so complex now that a two year draftee can hardly get trained and he is discharged.

Registering for the draft is still required by federal law.

I hope this helps.

everyone 18 male must sign up for the draft. if you already sign up for the military why would they clall you?? you are already there. the draft is just in case there arent enough troops to go around. so yes any male 18 years or older can be called over to serve unless he is the only male to carry on the last name or is the mothers only living son.

They will randomly select from males that are required to register at age 18.

I think women should be included in this. After all, ain't we all "equal?"
