The bible states that it's okay to own slaves...

"However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way." (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

The bible also condones sex slavery (see Exodus 21:7-11).

It's also permitted to beat your slaves, just so long as they don't die within two days of the beating (as a direct result of said beating) (see Exodus 21:20-21).

These verses of the bible are largely the reason why the West got away with slavery for so long...

Are you talking about Jews? Because Jews dont believe in hell at all....If you kill someone there will be a consequence, and if you do good there is reward, but we dont believe in torture like you will rot in hell.

Also being a slave was kind of like a servant. If you did something bad or something the person would be a "slave" but they werent forced into it. Actually every 7 years there is something called a Shmitah year and when the Shmitah year arrived all "slaves" had to be released, but if they wanted to stay there was this whole process. Hashem didnt like it, but it wasnt against the Torah. Actually, quite a few "slaves" stayed because there are many laws on how you were supposed to treat them. If there was a slice of bread left, i believe you were supposed to give it to the slave, so being a slave was not necessarily like it is thought as now. Jews were slaves for many years though. Did you know that!??!?!? Jews were the type of slaves that were forced and tortured! So dont give us that!

First of all, God doesn't believe. Wrong term.
Second of all, to survive and develop, each person has to do some work, if you know what I mean. In the ancient days, when the text of Genesis was written, there were no, let's call it so, human rights, the employers didn't respect their employees, so you can say God founded human rights. It has nothing to do with slavory. The free day was also supposed to be the time of praising God.
And if you want a discussion, be my guest.

God didn't condone slavery in any way, but there were people that sold themselves as slaves. So God had guidelines on how a slave was to be treated, and also for how long they should be kept. Including, if you knock out the tooth of your slave you must release him for his tooth's sake. If you want to ask questions, email me. I am not like the other christians, but I still believe you need salvation. That is part of my faith.

He set out many rules governing the ownership of slaves. He also used slavery as a means of punishment for going against his will. I guess he thought it was ok.

I don't think any kind of loving God would ever think that such a terrible thing was moral. God dislikes anything that causes creatures distress.

Again assuming that I am accurate in saying that somewhere in the Bible reference is made to slavery and it is condoned.

Sounds like someone decided to "spice" up some verses in order to justify the actions at that moment.

What proof that this is not a possibility??

Slavery was a way of paying off debt, anyone in debt now is a slave to the creditors.

Yes, He endorsed it. That's why it was so hard to beat the South during the Civil War. But eventually Man succeeded as usual.
