I have swollen, tender lymph nodes, sore throat (almost to the piont that I can't swollow), slight fever (usually 97.5 but now 98.3), no other upperrespitory symptoms, and a few white lumps near my tonsils. I think it could be because my freind had strep throat and came to school because her doctor said she could because she was on antibiotics. Thanks for your help

PS: I have a doctor appointment at 3:00 pm today, but i have no real idea what I am dealing with. Also, i asked this question before and someone mentioned mono, I have had that before, and as far as I know you can't get it again.

you have strep.

try your hardest to withstand the pain until you go to the doc, and make sure you take the meds. The symptoms will go away within a couple hours of taking the meds, and make sure you take ALL of the medicine.

don't worry about mono - i had that before, and the symptoms are completely different from strep throat

Yup...definitely you get strep throat...but check with your doctor again to confirmed it...you can get strep throat as often as possible...i got it in an average of twice a year...streptococcus bacteria is known for it's resistant to antibiotic...make sure your doctor prescribes you with proper antibiotic...it an ethical concern that he'll not prescribed you with extra strength antibiotic to make it go away faster but in a dose enough to kill the bacteria....and dear..please finish the course of your antibiotic...because if u didnt...u just became the contributor to the more resistant streptococcus....hope you get well soon....

If the pain in your throat is like swallowing razor blades, or feels like you've burned it.. then it is very likely strep.
The important thing to remember is to keep yourself hydrated.. if drinking is difficult, then try popsicles, they can help numb the pain too.

Good Luck, and I hope you feel better soon

This does sound to me like Strep.

Strep is contagious. Years ago I had it and the Dr. had me use Hydrogen Peroxide, it heals and kills the pain. I honestly do not remember if I was on antibiotics. (they will give you a yeast infection, because they kill the healthy bacteria also.

Mouth wash with the hydrogen peroxide and eat live culture yogurt to try to correct your bacteria PH.

Good Luck
