I've never heard of Trileptal being used to treat ADHD. It is used for seizure disorders and as a mood stabilizer for bipolar disorder.
I just looked at some of my reference books and still found nothing about Trileptal being used. There is, however, mention of using other similar medications (Topamax, Neurontin, Depakote, Tegretol, Lamictal, etc.) What is says is that usually they need to be used in conjunction with a stimulant. Do your symptoms include severe behavioral problems, aggression/bad temper, panic, mild paranoia, mood instability, learning disabilities and/or memory problems in addition to the basic ADD symptoms? For ADD that presents with these symptoms, mood stabilizers can be helpful. If you have any of those symptoms, have they decreased since starting the Trileptal?
You need to talk to the prescribing doctor. Let them know you are not noticing any changes. Find out exactly why they chose this medication for you.

Unless you are having seizures you should not be on this medication it is an anticonvulsant. Now,if you are not having seizures you can not just quit taking this med either, because it affectes your neurotransmitters.Usually treatment for ADHD is managed with C2 meds like:Adderrall,Ritalin:if you are being seen by a specialist maybe it is a test trial of some sort.I would be curious to find out.You need to consult with your doctor. If you are not suppose to be on this med they will have to taper you off.Now if you do have seizures then you are o.k. on the med but you need something for your ADHD.Good luck!!
