Jesus didn't say any of that, and most of those scriptures, also talk about men loving and cherishing their wives as themselves. You need to read these passages for yourself, and read the whold chapter for context.

I don't think that Jesus can in any way be connected with sexism. In everything, he always showed both respect and kindness towards women. That being said, there are passages in the Bible that could be misinterpreted as sexism. The Bible is, after all, a guide to thinking. Part of this problem is the change that has occured in the world and the form that many parts of the Bible are written. In fact, many parts of the Bible are written from a male's perspective. In fact most of the Bible is. THis is really just a nuisance to anyone who studies. Your analysis of woman as slaves is incorrect, however; You neglect one important thing about the relationship of a husband and a wife.
The husband has duties that he must fulfill that a woman do all of these things. After all, if you are not a proper man, how could you expect your wife to listen??? Much less TELL her what do do.
This is the truth, A woman has to want to do the things she does.
Nothing in the world could ever make her.

The Bible is a reflection of the way that people felt about women at the time it was written. The Old Testament definitely treats them as though they are second class citizens. Jesus did not compare them to slaves. Of all the people in the Bible I see him as the least offensive. Paul, who is often considered the father of the church, does make comments that in his letters that women should be seen and not heard. However, there are major Biblical scholars who believe that those passages very possibly were added by someone else. In the long run, I do believe the Bible is, for the most part, a collection of myths. While I believe that Jesus probably lived, I do not believe that he was divine. Nor do I believe in a god. So, the way the Bible depicts women is irrelevant to me.

Now, that is where people can't understand what Jesus taught. Women aren't compared to slaves. Jesus was telling how a marriage will work and not having 4or 5 wives. Sexism is something people came up with, when they didn't want to follow the Bible. If you follow the teachings of Jesus Christ your life will be better off. Do the Will of God and not your own.

If you read the bible and take it in context you will find that husbands and wives is an equal partnershp. They both have a responsibility to the other, but in that day the man was the leader of the family and did certain things, but I bet if the husband did something that upset his wife and she told him to stop that or else, I bet he obeyed.

The only passage that can be mistaken as sexist is Pauls cammand for women in 1 Corinthians 14:34, 35

I will not quote this scripture because the one time I did I got a violation for ephitaths and slurs. I posted the book chapter and verse so you all can read it yourselves and make up your own mind as to the purpose.

To begin, men are also told to "obey, serve and to submit to authority", not just women. There is a verse where Jesus tells His disciples that He no longer calls them servants but friends.

If you still don't believe this, consider that these instructions are also based on culture (Middle Eastern) and many still remain to this day independent of religion.

As a Heathen who only pays attention to things like this in the Bible you should know by now Christians find it very simple to interpret the Bible so there is no sexism apparent. So just go on your way and stop trying to cause trouble with Christians before they put a hex on your a'ss and send you to Hell. OO

the sexism in the bible is nothing compared to other religions. It says that when you get married, you are to 'serve' your husband, but it also says you become one as flesh. You are no longer 2 separate beings, you are working together as a team now. When adam and eve were created, eve was created from adam's rib. later it also says that women should be at the feet of the husband, the husband is to be the protector of their wives. I used to think that the bible was very sexist, but its really not especially compared to other religions.

Did you know the greater command is on the husbands. They Are to LOVE their wives as Christ LOVED the church and gave himself for the church. Christ has unconditional love and thats the kind of love a husband should have. If the man is doing his job then its easy for the woman to do her job.

Are you kidding? Jesus didn't write the bible so I don't think they are quoting him exactly. Back then they didn't know which end was up let alone which was the stronger sex.
