I've lived in NY all my life. There is nothing like it. You don't have to be rich in order to enjoy NYC. There are so many cultures to enjoy. During the summer there are a lot of things to do. Rent can be a little steep, but if you know someone.... In NYC you can find anything! The weather could be a bit warmer, but that's just personal prefrence!

You have access to almost any merchandise and food you want. Quality is pretty good b/c of all the competition. There's a ton of people, so if you're social you'll find someone to hang out with. A lot of diversity and acceptance of different cultures. There's a great culture of music, art, sports, etc, so you can always find something to do free or expensive.
No driving unless you're a great driver and rich. Everything is subway and walking, which sucks in the snow. If you don't mind giving up a few dollars, you can grab a cab.
It's expensive, cramped, and old. Since I'm from the west coast I'm not used to the fact that there is barely any central air,almost everything is a high rise, and a lot i privately vs corporate owned. Some areas are clean and nice,some are dirty and unsafe, but the later is more likely closer to harlem.
People are in general accepting and can be nice. A lot of people are stressed out and need to be aggressive to get what they want. Normally they're not running around with a smile on their face.
Oh very pet UNfriendly when it comes to housing, transportation, etc., because of all the people, thin walls, etc.

It's fun,i mean you have the bad and the good weather but after that its alll good. I've been living here for 7yrs now and i'll have to say i wouldn't want to move to any other state. New YORK IS ALOT OF FUN.

yeah its truly great. ive lived there for seven years (most of my 20's). life there is good. its expensive, but worth it. its even nicer if you dont have to work a straight job and can enjoy the nightlife.

It's alot of fun if you're rich, because everything is so expensive.
