I know that each person has their own take on life, and each person believes different things. the one thing that I have found an Atheist to have in common is their knowledge of no God. and another would be Evolution.
so here's my question: do Atheists in general, believe in Energy? and do they believe that energy can be manipulated by any person?

red mage: I agree with you. this is why I put the examples of, Atheists believe no god, and most in evolution. just wondering if it were the same fo energy.
I was just wondering for the most part, or the majority.
I wasn't trying to invalidate your individual thought process, and I most certainly not trying to offend.
pardon my ignorance. I don't know, which is why I was asking.

Well I'm manipulating energy right now (albeit indirectly) to use this computer, to send data of the Internet, even my body uses energy to function and I'm manipulating that directly to move my hands to type.

I think it's pretty obvious that I can believe that it's there.

I think you need to define what you mean by energy - it's too broad a term to use like that.

Like some of my peers have stated above, we all have different opinions on this subject as well. I personally do believe in energy, and the ability to manipulate it artificially or naturally. The existance of energy and it's effects have been well documented. Even though there are more applications for it than have been explored so far, we know plenty about it already in the realm of science. That said, I feel that your question is touching more on the subject of "psychic abilities" and special powers. I do believe in them because I've seen and felt things and met people who manifest them. But, the logical explanation is evolution and mutation. Kinda like x-men a little only on a smaller scale. Peace

Actually I don't know of any Atheists who have knowledge in no god. Most have no belief in god just as we have no belief in any other non-falsifiable and highly unlikely event. I also have no belief in the Burger King floating in orbit of Sirius Major owned by a dancing purple cow.

Evolution has nothing to do with Atheism. There are many Christens, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Bokononons, etc ... who consider Evolution a viable scientific theory.

What do you mean by energy? If you mean magic, no.

I tend to manipulate energy on a daily basis. When the sun goes down, for example, I convert electrical energy into light. When I want to go from one place to another, I often convert chemical energy into mechanical energy.

I believe in energy, I believe that people have the ability to manipulate the energy around them, and to cast it out, like in a spell, or magick, I also believe that this energy cannot defy the laws of science: no turning people into toads and such.
just mine own beliefs...sorry, not an atheist, but a pagan.

Energy that can be measured, of course.

If you mean that with some supernatural connotation, like ESP, telekinesis, etc., that is just silly. All that type of stuff breaks down when you put it in a controlled environment. There is no evidence for any of it.

Energy in what sense? I believe in electricity, for example. And it is only because electricity can be manipulated by people that I'm able to send you this answer.

Of course atheists believe in energy. E=mc^2. This has no bearings on souls because souls do not exist and it has no bearings on gods because gods do not exist. There may or may not be chi, ki, or chakra. This also has no bearings on gods or souls.

I assume you mean the crystal-wearing, hippie type of energy. There's as much evidence for that as there is for god - none.

An atheist only tries to understand a thing or a thought. Why should he believe in something? His belief is restricted to just know whether it is true or not.
