You could buy a pair of web-cams and make video calls via the skype service. Also write slushy love-letters. Don't worry if the words sound corny. That's what love-letters are for, to say how you feel, things that you wouldn't say on the phone. Say those 3 little words 'I love you' as often as poss. You can also get as passionate as you like in your letters.
You could make a video with a message from you and background music that means something to the both of you.
Talk on the phone while watching the same movie or looking at the same vacation website, etc.
Raise money somehow and fly down and see her, even if you get just 1 day together at a weekend. Selling things on eBay for example. Search like mad for cheap flights. There's nothing better than being together in person.

my now fiance and I, when he was stationed in Iraq, kept up our relationship, doing messenger chat and using the webcam, so we could see each other. We would spend hours and hours just chatting about anything and everything.
If you have a bond, or a special connection with each other, it becomes habit doing this with each other. Every once in a while, I would get phone calls, but it was mainly computer chat.
We had only been "talking" for only a month, before he was deployed. We truly got to know each other more, with each of our chats. By the time he came home, our relationship had the foundation of friendship and respect, unlike most relationships that we all hear about.
FYI, we've been together now for 4 years.

It only depends on the two people involved.If the both of you want to be together than nothing will keep you apart for long.The reality is that some times being separated gives one a chance to look at a relationship from a different perspective and some times that look ,looks better alone, so it really does depend on the couple involved.

Video Chat... It's free in most cases, besides the cost of the webcam and a mic. Thats about as close as you'll get to being together.

We have phone dates at same resturant but in different states which sounds corny but it works. He even bought me gift cards so I wouldn't have to pay for it. I mail scented letters to him to keep my scent in his mind. Of course there's the obviously mailing gifts, email, webchat with cams. In about 6 more months I will be moving to where he's at so it can totally work.
