but you have to tell me your favorite recently tasted $75 plus bottle(s) so I can see where your tastes lean. I find myself entertaining folks who don't appreciate the better stuff I have in the cellar, and would like to have several cases of something around that is cheap, but well made and not boring.

Geeze... I expected more... almost no one telling me what high end wines they like, so how do I know you have any taste, or what your preferences are? DP tells me you really don't have much wine knowledge... I mean, its good enough, but painfully common and over rated... '95 VC Grande Dame beats it hands down, for example...

Rocca's Ser Gioveto is a certainly a nice chianti-style Tuscan... very much a style I enjoy, though I lean towards Brunello's. I hope you didn't pay more than maybe $35.

Bourgogne Sauvingon???!!!!! Bourgogne is a nbastardized spelling of the French for Burgundy. Sauvignon is a reference to the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. Unfortunately, it is illegal to grow Cab Sauvignon in Burgundy (its all Pinot Noir or Gamay), so I have no idea what wine you could possibly be referring to.

I love Sterling Cabernet for about $15. Sometimes it's a couple of bucks more, but worth it to me- I buy that when I need a couple of bottles for entertaining. Has more of a dark berry- blackberry flavor to it.

Also, Estancia makes a good red wine as well- pinot noir. Hs a cherry/spice to it. Easy to drink.

As for $75- I wouldn't pay that much for wine. I've paid about $50 for a good bottle of Rocca Delle Macie- similar to a cabernet. Comes from Tuscany Italy. It has a mixture of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet grapes- makes it a hit with just about anyone. It's on the dry side of red wines.

The most recent bottle of $75+ I've opened was a bottle of '95 Cuvee DP, but as for my reds I like to keep them in the $15-$25 range. 2 excellent wines I have had recently were purchases I made in Italy in 2004 and have been storing in my wine cellar. They were both DOC Vesuvians - the better being the Lacryma Christi (70% Pedirosso, 20% Aglianico and 10% Sciasciniso). As for a well made, interesting red that is friendly to your wallet as well as your palate, I would go with my perennial favorite, a Finger Lakes semi-dry called Walter S. Red by Bully Hill. I've never bothered to age one as they are always the right price to crack open when you get home ($7.99 750mL in Pennsylvania). Enjoy!

The best I've had over $75 was a Bourgogne Sauvingon, I appologize for not remembering exactly what it was, I didn't purchase it and it was at a tasting. My favorite under $15 is a Fat Bastard Shiraz 2004 from Austalia.

Recently tasted Martin Ray "Diamond Mountain" Cab...

Too many good reds but I'll go with Mark West Pinot Noir.

Best under $15, "Hangtown Red" from the Boger Winery in California. Best $75, if I paid that much for it, it had better be good. The truth is that no wine is worth $75 to me. The price and/or the rarity does not improve the taste.

Try Bogle Old Vine Zinfandel. It's about $12 a bottle.

Fat Bastard has excellent red wines for under 15 dollars.

My favorite red wine is French and hard to find in the USA, but it's called Chateau du Beaujouix.
