Yep that's it! Get to a doctor for some meds. In the meantime drink some Hot Chamomile Tea with Honey and Lemon to soothe your throat. Don't talk just type.

DONT drink hot things. This is a misconception. Yes, the heat makes it feel better, usually because you are deadening the nerve endings though. Your throat is already inflamed- you need to drink cold drinks..and NO sugar. Bacteria feeds on sugar, so you'll just make it worse. Ice water doesn't feel as good, but is best. You really should go to the doc, but if you can't for some reason, just buy some little packets (about 11.00 a box) from a drug store called Emergen C. Follow the directions and take the max dose every day. Also, if you'll take a Vitamin E capsule (the liquid kind) and prick a hole in it, then squirt it on your throat, and let it sit, that will help it feel better AND heal. Try not to swallow for about 10 minutes. Also, strep makes you feel like you have to swallow because your throat is swollen- so instead of swallowing, spit into a kleenex. Everytime you swallow, you are rubbing your already inflamed throat- so spitting is best. Buy Kleenex brand that is the anti-bacterial type...it's made by Kleenex brand. Really though, go to the Dr.!

Sure you may have strep throat, but that can only be diagnosed by a rapid strep test. Or you may have mono, especially because of the white exudate on your tonsils. A mono spot (blood) test can confirm this. Either way, get checked out by a health care provider.

If you go to a decent doctor, he will treat you for strept throat if 4 of the following 5 exist.

Sore Throat
Exudate (the white crap)
Lymphadenopathy (tender 'glands')
Temperature (above 100.5ish)
Absence of cough

I would stop by quickly since the medication may take a day or so to work.

Could be. You will need to go to a doctor for a diagnosis and antibiotics, which you will need if it is strep. In the meantime, gargle w/warm salt water (2 teaspoons in a cup of water) to help relieve the pain and some pain reliever (not aspirin) for any pain and/or fever.
