I didn't know what the translation was until now. Thanks for the information. I have no problem with Muslims. Peace be with you!

The nature of Islam is quite peaceful; however the traditions of men and their interpretations of Sharia give rise to hard feelings even among adherents.

Mix with this the fervor of the Taliban and the atrocities in North Africa and it gives pause -- and makes one wonder if the word 'peace' has a similar meaning in Arabic and/or the Muslim world as it does elsewhere.

I believe in total freedom of religion. However, the one true God does not give vengeance to anyone and appears than some groups of Muslims take it upon themselves much more than many others.

Assalamu Alaikom

How Muslims greet each other and how they face off against the rest of the world are two different things. As examples: The USS Cole, the World Financial Center (twice), the embassy in Saudi, etc, etc, etc. So my impression is that Islam is a religion that preaches insularity as well as violence against "non-believers". In addition, Shiites and Sunnis don't greet each other with "Peace be with you" but with AK47s and car bombs. Peaceful? I don't think so.
