you can do it yourself.

Smear some betadine over the area and snip and pull out the strings.

you're done.

oh, like when the receptionist says come back in two weeks, then when you show up the doc looks slightly horrified and says it should've been ONE...?
Then he had a crack at removing them with pliers, bloody painful while he was tugging, then really pulled and it snapped, leaving most inside. (thanks for not giving me a local anasthetic by the way)
Then nearly 3 years later I get a little spot, like an ingrown hair, I pull and out comes about two inches of stitches - Hurrah!!
Painless too. I figure my body absorbed anything else, so no damage done.

So in summary, let them cut off any exterior stitching and let your body 'eject' the rest over time. Or have the operation again to remove them totally, and get the right date for REMOVING THEM!! lol

(don't mean to scare you BTW!)

*edit* all those people above saying you can do it yourself, funny. Then if you start bleeding all over the carpet it's all fine is it? Go to the docs, get it done as best they can, that's my advice, take it or leave it.

Nothing....It's no problem leaving them in a little longer, but it is a problem to take them out too early so you're fine. You can probably take them out yourself.

The only problem will be the skin grows around the stitches and it might be a little tight and hurt a tad more to remove them much later than they're supposed to be removed.

usually nothing. Your skin might grow over the stitches, making it harder for them to be removed later. I wouldn't wait if I were you

It would be good to get them out as close to that date as possible. Sounds gross, but the skin is probably growing over them!
