It will be a 9' 5wt. Fishing on larger streams and rivers. Must handle a variety of dries (size 10 to 18) as well as nymphs and woolly boogers (an all around rod). I like fast action rods
(I have a St. Croix legend ultra - but it is unforgiving). Both blanks
cost about the same. Or perhaps other someone may suggest a
different blank ?

I'd use the Sage XP, it is a lighter weight and narrower profile.
It quickly generates high line speed for longer casts and yet it is still sensitive.
