"I say these things to scare you because it says that through the fear of the Lord, men depart from evil. "
No. I don't agree. I think fear is a terrible reason to pretend to believe in something. It just tells me there are a lot of cowards out there telling people they're Xians.
I also see some of the worst evil perpetrated by those people who call themselves Xian. The Holocaust, The Inquisition, The Witch Burnings, the Crusades. Suuuuure....being with the lord will keep you from evil. How gullible do you think Atheists are? They're not. That's why they're Atheist and not Xian.

Wow, you've really bought into this stuff, and without a single shred of proof. Tell me, how do you know these things are so? Do you know someone who has died without being "saved" and come back to say " Yikes, don't piss this God guy off, cause he'll roast you like a marshmallow for all eternity!" If you have, then I think it would be a really great idea to tell your Christian congregation about it. Christians really like people who talk to ghosts. Or better yet, go to your local community college and take a course on the Bible. I think that if you do this, you will start to feel extremely sheepish for swallowing all this nonsense whole without first researching to find out where the stuff you're believing came from and what has been added and taken out through the years. Anyway, good luck with this whole Heaven/Hell stage you've got going on. Just make sure not to hang out with highly educated people while you do it, or you're likely to get laughed at.....A LOT!

I too believe in God, and it has been proven to me. Though I can't prove it to others. I have been given the gift of faith. In the Bible there are two meanings to the term fear. It is used to mean respect and awe, and also to mean afraid. I believe this instance to mean 'through respect and awe of the Lord, men depart from evil'. I think nearly every instance of angels appearing to people in the Bible begins with the angel saying 'Fear Not'. What I believe is that fear, as in being afraid, is a tool of Satan. Maybe that is why terrorists want us to be afraid. God bless you, it is so nice to hear of someone who knows the truth about God. Best wishes.

Good point from Ghost Wolf there.
Gravity is a force that has been proven to the satisfaction of science. God as yet remains the province of faith, rather than scientific proof.
On a more argument-engaging level, IF God exists, I do not recognise its right to judge me or any other human being. I believe we have out-evolved judgement by any but other humans. If as you say, I will face your god and be judged, he will have to become a tyrant to judge me, because I am not within his natural jurisdiction. I also do not recognise his right to lay down laws for human beings (certainly not as they have been interpreted by man, anyway). So I do not answer to him for any repentance I may have to make in this life. There are things I'm sorry for, but they each have a human object, rather than being sorry for my sin in being alive.
So I guess that's me disagreeing, sorry.
Peace.

Jesus would not want you to recruit people by trying to scare them. Jesus has a kind and forgiving nature. Anyone who wishes to repent will be forgiven and saved. Preaching hellfire and brimstone isn't winning anyone over.
Jesus died because he loves us. All of us. We are all sinners. You included. He loves us anyway. He loves me even when I sin. I know this because he will still forgive me if I ask him to. Spreading fear and hatred in the Lord's name is a sin in itself.

Sure i'd like to believe in god, but i'd like to date certain celebrities too, doesn't mean either is going to happen.
When you can construct a valid argument that proves god's existence, i'll listen, but thus far the greatest thinkers of the world have failed to do it and you stand on the `god tells me he exists through the bible, a book written by man, therefore he exists` theory, which doesn't hold water.

This is not really a question but rather a statement. I feel it will most likely be deleted by the powers that be here at Yahoo answers. I am Christian also and understand your need to spread the truth but I have found that I need to find a way to do it in the form of a real question or else my posts get deleted.

What you say is absolutely true......and judging from all the thumbs down you have received ( and the ones I'll receive for posting this message ) there are a lot of people who WANT you to be wrong because they don't want to make a decision to accept Christ
.
That's ok, stick to your guns, they'll wish they had done things differently

What people believe is entirely their business and nothing to do with you.
I have many friends who believe in god and that's fine with me.
I don't have any proof of any god and therefore I cannot believe. People like you will NEVER convince me otherwise, you just come across as religious nut cases who cannot respect others!
This in my book is ignorant!

now I can continue my life as a hypocrite and save my soul with your beliefs.
you should be oh so proud with your preaching here today, and all that junk.
