I believe your last name has 'evolved' thru some very interesting past thru your fishing ancestors! It could be of Mediteranean origin or has sounded like 'Medi' thru migration.

I many parts of the world fishermen still catch their pay thru netting fish 'by hand'. One prized catch type is shellfish like crabs, oysters & lobsters.

To catch crabs a stick is often used to dig into the sand & pry out the crabs hiding in the hole. After sevarl crabs were caught they are stringed & carried home on the end of the same stick that got them out.

The catch (crabs, lobsters, etc.) used to be hung on a stick by the road side for sale. This is still the mode of marketing in many parts of the developing world........including in the Philippines.

Of course fishes are often sold in the same style......hanging from a stick by the roadside.

Based on the above.....I would think your name must be of Latin origin...........the Spanish (e.g. Megellan) sailed round the world & discovered, and settled, in many island in the pacific (& Philippines).......& the French of course have their colonies in the fijis & Polynesia.

So.....zooming in I think your ancestors are either Latin or Pacific Islanders who have migrated & inter-married.

I hope I have been of some help........ Ciao!

It is from a language used by the natives of Cook Island.
Cogl, pronounced Ko-ehl means crab.
Liandro may sound Italian but in this language, it is a long piece of wood used in Sacrificial rituals so basically, it means stick.

So your name, Cogl -Liandro means crabstick.

I don't think it's possible for your ancestors to have had that name as crabsticks weren't invented till quite recently... Maybe they had names like Cogloora (crabhead), Cogliottam ( crabshell) and Aruscogl ( smoked crab ).
