We have 2 English Bulldog puppies (8 and 10months old). We couldn't get them to eat the Iams or Eukanuba. About 4 months ago we switched them to Royal Canin (available at PetSmart). They make breed specific formulas. This particular food is shaped to be easier for the Bulldog to pick up (as many of them have the underbite), and it's made to prevent the gas that Bulldogs are prone to due to their digestive system. The ingredients in it are real food...not fillers, so when they eat their portions, they stay full rather than wanting to eat more, which helps with the weight issues that Bulldogs typically have. I can tell you that in the 4 months they've been on this food, they have had NO gas that we've noticed. Good luck!

I feed my bulldog a mixture of a brand called Holistic Blend (made in Canada) I'm not sure if you can get it anywhere else. I mix it with frsh food that has been prepared locally and I get it at petsmart. Don't feed Iams, eukanuba, or other comercial foods. Go to a pet store that provides holitic foods as bulldogs are a lot more sensitive than other dogs and need a natural food.

Iams/Eukanuba is a LOW quality food. Also considered low quality foods are Purina, Pedigree, Science Diet, Ol'Roy, Walthams, Bil Jac, etc. This foods contain by-products, fillers, and even cancer causing chemical preservatives.
The best quality foods on the market include Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, Canidae, Fromm, Merrick, etc. These foods are made with whole fresh human grade ingredients.
Do a bit of research and you'll see there is more to pet nutrition than just listening to your vet or a popular tv commercial.

The best food to feed your dog is food with whole meat as the first ingredient. Look for 'chicken' or 'turkey' not chicken meal, not animal by products and certainly not corn! Look for other ingredients that are whole ingredients and not by products of the human food industry (like brewers rice). I like petfooddirect.com for comparing ingredients. The first five ingredients makes up the vast majority of what you're putting in your dog so make sure it's good, wholesome ingredients. Here's an example of a great ingredients list from Nature's Variety Prairie Brand:
Venison, Lamb Liver, Lamb Heart, Ground Lamb Bone, Pumpkin Seeds, Apples, Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli, Lettuce, Spinach, Ground Flax Seeds, Chicken Eggs...
Compare this to iams which is better than some dog food ingredients!
Chicken, Corn Meal, Ground Grain Sorghum, Chicken By-Product Meal, Ground Whole Grain Barley, Dried Beet Pulp (sugar removed), Dried Egg Product,
You're seeing corn meal and by product meal as two of the top 5 ingredients and then we go on to a dried egg 'product'. Sorry, I'm not wild about feeding my dog 'product'.
There are lots of brands out there that have a better ingredient list than iams. I like Nature's Variety Prairie, Pinnicale (esp the trout & sweet potato), Newman's Own, Natureal Balance, Solid Gold, VeRUS and lots more. Start reading labels and you'll start to see a real difference in the quality of ingredients available for your dog.

I actually have a 3 month old frenchie too. I've had to switch her food abunch of times now but it seems like Science Diet Puppy (Small bites) seems to be working really well. Her poop isn't runny at all. I've also been soaking her food before I give it to her because she barely chews. And this type of food is meant to be given for 1 whole year so that makes things pretty easy! Hope this helps!

I am in the vet profession and teach in the animal care industry vet nursing etc. I also used to work for Hills Sci diet. You get so much free advice when you have a puppy or a baby!!! My uncle has shown and bred British Bulldogs for years and makes his own diet food. This can be extremely difficult as we find it hard to balance our own diets let alone our pets. Scientists have proven that dogs are opportunistic feeders in the wild and eat a huge variety of items. They are mostly Carnivorous but actually eat the whole of the prey including stomach contents (partially cooked veges YUM YUM) and bones. They also dig for tubers (veges) and eat berries etc. Bulldogs are still dogs so will go searching for things they think they need.
I am an accredited dog trainer and have fabulous nutritional discussions with clients. In practise I've seen dogs both florish and die on the Barf and other do it at home diets. It's amazing what people feed their animals. I think for the average person who is looking to find the healthiest diet you should BASE your pets diet on one of the Super premium diets like Eukanuba puppy (best qual' Iams) as it has higher Omega fatty acid content than any other diet so great for their coat. Bulldogs are notorious for skin problems. Sci diet, Advance, Royal Canin are fab too but in this case Euk would prop be the best. Dogs have only 900 taste buds so texture is more important than taste. If they don't get a variety of textures raw vege, cooked etc then they will go looking... So typical owner that I am I also give diff food enrichment items even though premium food is a complete diet. This Keeps them happy. Oh don't forget Puppy classes with a kind and gentle trainer (Delta accredited is best). Good luck.

Check the ingredients. Pedigree, Iams, and all of that comercial dog food is HORRIBLE for your dog. Cough up the extra cash and use a better food. Athough it might cost twice as much, they eat half as much and are twice as healthy. Also, they don't poop as much!

Pedigree?I dont know if you have it where you live, but when we feed it to our dogs and puppies, you can actually see the results. They appear healthy and they have far more energy and they have constant healthy weights.I think it is the best dog food.
Here check it out:
