I just realised cocktail attire meant a little black dress. The event is tonight and the only dress I have has glitter all over it. It is a solid navy blue color with shiny glitter pattern all over it. It has a halter neck and ends slightly above my knees.

When in doubt, leave it out.

Difficult to say from your description. But, a rule of thumb is if the event is during the afternoon, then it is not appropriate. If the function takes place in the evening, then it is probably fine to wear the dress. You're safe...........this time. :)

I might add though that with the halter neck that usually means a bare back. That may well be frowned on at a business function regardless of the time of day. Have you a tasteful cashmere scarf that you can throw over your shoulders?

Hard to tell from your description. If you are covered appropriately - no naked shoulders, dipping neck line, or high hem, AND, the glitter isn't loud, then you should be okay.

Tomorrow you should go out and buy that all purpose little black dress, they do come in handy.

Good luck.

You probably just have time to go get a LBD - glitter is NOT appropriate for business functions.

WELL? HOW DI IT GO?

glitter is not appropriate for business functions unless they involve a pole

I would think it would depend on the business, the place and the reason for the event.

If this party is work related, yes, you need to tone it down.
