Actually, no I don't think we created God. We 'may' have discovered God. Columbus may have discovered America, but he didn't create America.
God may have come to our realization of God's existance from thought processes we developed while we were first inventing things. Early man may have made the wheel using a stick for an axle and managed to make a wheel out of rock. Then it the epiphany struck him. I made this out of rock and wood. But where did what makes the rock come from? And how did the wood grow like it did? Someone or something must be better than I am at making things. Who did those things?
Any one who goes intellectual and says man created God ignores the obvious. If God didn't create man, how did man get here. If you say, well it all started with the 'Big Bang'. Ask yourself this where did the bang come from? What was before the bang?

God created us. Man has tried to change God, or made new Gods, to suit his needs. God exists and He has not changed. He still loves all of us.

The artist painted a masterpiece, but don't you think the masterpiece created the artist?
Does the art create the creator or is it the inspiration of the artist that created the art?
Does a baby give birth to his mother?

that's a real good question.. nevermind the shallow close minded person here..
but i think yeah you're right... i'm a believer of God, yes. but you're not to be blamed if you ask question such as this, 'cause you've been gifted to think logically... and somehow you seek for proof to believe. although there are written proof such as religious books and there are many forms of religion that claim it is God who created us... people choose on what they believe.. but what if the time comes, just maybe like a judgement day, don't you think it's too late for you to believe?!
there's a big universe out there, who knows what's going on there? and we people stuck our brains and belief in one place.
i know this isn't the wisest idea you've ever heard or read, but there's no point not believing.

no we did not create god. God created us in his own image, he made male and female and said that it was very good, god's word in god inspired.
