What is the best distance to view TV?

No surround sound available. Small TV 8 inch screen. 4" out from middle of tv to each side of the screen.

The simple thumb rule is ten times of the length of the cross section of TV screen. Say if the cross section of the screen is 20", you should view from a distance of about 200" or 16 feet. For your TV it should be about 7 feet.
