Bubba Gump's was absolutely wonderful! We have never had so much fun in a restaurant before. The atmosphere is very relaxed. As soon as you walk in the restaurant, you are greeted by the friendly staff. Surrounding you are pictures and attire from the movie Forest Gump. At your table are two license plates; one says "Run Forrest Run," the other says "Stop Forest Stop." If you need anything, just flip the license plate from "Run Forest Run" to "Stop Forest Stop," and almost immediately, the nearest waiter or waitress appears at your table, ready to get you whatever you want.
While we were waiting for our food, our waiter quizzed us with Forrest Gump trivia. Again, it was a truly fun and a fantastic atmosphere! Not only was the service great, the food was, too! If you eat at Bubba Gump's, which you most definitely should, for dessert, get Jenny's Strawberry Dream! That is the best dessert I've ever had!
To top it all off, Bubba Gump's has a really nice gift shop, which has all kinds of apparel and accessories. One of the shirts has Bubba's list of all the ways you can cook shrimp. eat there! It's amazingly great!

Well, I have never eaten there, but I trust the Zagat Guide to dining and they say it's not worth it. In fact, the food gets a rating of 12, which is one of the lowest I've ever seen! You should expect a rating of 15 or better, at least. Even the Outback is much better rated. The highest Zagat ratings anywhere are 28-30, but that's for pricey stuff.
I have seen the Bubba Gump in NY. It is in the heart of bustling Times Square. It's a Tourist Trap, trust me. I am a local. There are sooooooo many better places to eat in NYC, which is one of the dining capitals of the world. Why go to a place like NY if you are going to eat chain restaurant food that isn't even that good? Visit the Zagat site and go buy their guide to NY restaurants in your local bookstore. Or find a "Time Out Guide" to NY, also at a large bookstore.
If you are looking for something fun and not too expensive in the Times Square area, my advice is go to Dallas BBQ on 42nd Street. The food is excellent, the prices are famously low, and they make my favorite margarita ever. Also, it's a local restaurant so you will be doing something you can't do anywhere else. Have fun!

WOW, I did not know that there was a Bubba Gump shrimp compnay in NYC, must be new. By all means go. The restuarant is very good. Now word of advice I have noticed that when I ate in restuarant chains in NYC vs other cities I have found that the prices are higher in NYC. But the service has always been A+. We ate at the one in Charleston, SC and the food was awesome, the service excellent, the portions huge and prices reasonable. The atomsphere all I can say is WOW. Enjoy you will have fun.

There are so many great restaurants in New York that you can ONLY go to in NY. PLEASE don't go to a chain restaurant. I lived in NYC for 2 1/2 years and still have dreams about the restaurants and the food that I miss. Even a mom and pop diner would be a much better choice than any chain restaurant.

We went to the one in Santa Monica, CA right on the pier. We found staff to be very attentive, We had a nice appetizer sampler that was much larger than we thought it would be, the drink we had was delicious, and we got it in a souvenir glass that we could keep, they had all manner of items on the menu, quite a selection, the price in my experience was what I would call mid-range, maybe 13 to 18 an entree.

I went to the one in Chicago and it was great. Although I am alergic to shell fish and had to eat a steak all the people with me had shrimp or fish. Everyone said that their food was excellent. The price of this was rather reasonable compared to something like red lobster.
