no need to un-install norton

i use both with no trouble

the only thing is,
while installing avg ,you cannot install the office plug-in

if you installed it completely ,consider DISABLING NORTON

i would never recommend removing it,,
despite what the anti-symantec people say

if you decide to remove norton ,just get a spyware program

avg anti-spyware

Remove Norton as it will not be needed.
Norton is a ok/good but has some draw backs with performance, over dominating your machine and using its resources. Free AVG is just fine as it does do a better job at times (in my 15 years of experience with multiple virus checkers) and is very light on your machine, small, easy to use as well as to uninstall, install with no problems. You have made a good choice as AVG is still listed in most recent mags in the top ten.
And some Professional computer guy dudes will not uninstall the previous apps unless he is instructed to do so or only if it may pose a problem or he did not advise his client properly.
Norton also is known to not supply their clients with the most easy and simple methods to remove viruses if due to not giving an update for the very latest viruses that AVG and Hacker (Peru) would do.
Please note: You can install as may apps that do the same job for extra security, they would all give slightly different results but not necessary.

The same software change was done for me by a professional computer guy and he did not take Norton out. He simply disabled the start up function. The Norton is still there, just inactive.

Yes, you should remove Norton. It's never a good idea to run two antivirus programs could cause software conflicts

Yes, get rid of Norton, because using two anti-viruses together is not a good idea.
