Hi, i am a 16 year old asian girl. I am about 1.72 m and i weigh 88 kg!!! I am sick and tired of dieting and exercising, trying to lose weight. I try to eat healthy and exercise, but nothing's happening. I used to be at acceptable weight, but now, i dont understand why. sometimes, i eat very lightly for dinner or i don eat at all. I am quite active : I play badminton, do sit-ups, and am almost always on the move. Whats wrong with me ?? I plan to take a weight loss tablets. Which kind should i use ?? tnx-

Hi....Since you said you used to be of acceptable weight, I don't think that you being overweight has something to do with your genes..More exactly, I think that the reason you are still not losing weight is because you should combine exercises and dieting together and try not to skip your meals...Another probable reason could be that you eat little but consume high calorie and high fat foods, cancelling your effort on exercises..For weight loss, badminton is not very effective as the movements are lesser and are restricted to a smaller amount of space (compared to sports like football or basketball)...I can sense your effort and I think you should not give up easily because weight loss is never a fast thing to comprehend with...As for taking weight loss tablets, I highly discourage you from doing so because you may harm your body in the process and that even if you lose weight very quickly, you will gain them back once you stop taking the pills..You will then have to continue them for as long as you want to stay slim...Also, you might harm your organs as well...
My advice to you is that you should eat more greens (vegetables) and cut down on carbohydrates while replacing more of your proteins from meat...Also, engage in other sports like basketball or jogging to help you burn more calories...***WiSh yOu gOOD LuCk iN yOur qUesT***

I have the same weight problem as you, but I am older. I put on 3 kg at Christmas, and I now know that sweet food can be addictive.
Here are guidelines to lose weight once and for all.
0) Being young is a dodgy time to be much interested in weight. Research shows that there is a tendency for young people to have an eating disorder about 3 years later if they get too hung up on weight. - Try to think of health, happiness, mobility, and flexibility.
1) There are 5 kinds of fitness at least. Go for them all, as you are doing, but forget about drugs, restrictive clothes etc. Drugs may damage the kidneys or liver a small bit.
2) Lose weight slowly.
3) The main way to lose weight is to eat less more than 3 times a day.
4) Do not skip mealtimes. Cut down or eliminate junk food.
5) Be prepared for VERY slow progress. Fast progress is bad. Tell yourself that as long as you do not gain weight, things are not bad, for the moment.

standard weight (asian):-
male : (height)cm - 80 x 0.7 +/- 10%
female: (height)cm - 70 x 0.6 +/- 10%
your weight x 40 or 45 = calories u needed/ day (male)
your weight x 30 or 35 = calories u needed/ day (female)
self awareness on food and calories is important.
increase your metabolism will help to burn extra calories.
Dont take weight loss tablets, it will make you worse
have you heard of Totalife? - a completed slimming nutrition for asian. is a good programme for slimming.
