Should I teach my kids at home?

Question

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to get up early on these miserable winter mornings, I lie there thinking of which illnesses I can tell the school my children have, so that they dont have to go in today, I'm getting the feeling that the school are starting to disbelieve me, so should i just take the kids out of school for good and teach them myself so that i dont have to get up in the morning? I dont know anything but I'm sure they can find stuff on the net to learn.

brilliant - then you can get the kids to make you lunch in bed - and in the afternoons they can answer qu for you on Y/A until their fingers bleed and you get to level 7

Your children are learning from you right now. They are learning how to lie to get their way and also that school is not that important. Do you really want that for your children? Education as it is is lacking in some areas and you are cheating them out of the best they can have just by being lazy. If you are serious about homeschooling them, you must be certified to do so. The board of education will not accept you teaching them by finding things on the net to learn. That is not the way education works. I would also say that you should seek some help. It sounds like you may have what is called winter depression.

Dangerous cycle to get into are you sure there is not another underlying reason for not wanting to get up rather than just the winter weather?

Whilst I am sure there are excellent resources on the internet for home schooling and there are many parents who are sucessfully choosing this option for their children you seriously need to consider if you will be motivated enough to teach them yourself and the implication taking them out of a school environment will have on their social skills. After all it is not just educational skills taught in classroom but interaction, sharing, communication etc.

I was taught at home for several year due to bullying at school, and I loved every minute of it. But I know that it was hard work for my parents, and if you nor your children are committed then it isn't going to work.

Inspectors are sent around on a regular basis to see how the children are doing, and if the work isn't up to scratch or you aren't teaching them correctly then they'll pack them straight off to school again.

There are plenty of workbooks you can buy online for all ages, and you need to get hold of a copy of the curriculum for your child's age group - as this is what you'll have to ensure they learn, and produce proof to the inspectors. Take a look, see if you think you're able, and go from there.

I presume you're not actually serious..... Home schooling is really only a viable option for children that have either severe behavioural/social problems or find school incredibly stressful. I'm a teacher and while I can see the benefits of home schooling in some cases, I feel the social development that your children gain in school is invaluable and cannot be replicated anywhere else. The most distressing thing however about your question is not that you don't know anything about education (as you can train or learn through courses etc.) but that you do not have your children's best interests at heart, merely your own. I don't mean to be nasty, but you are a very selfish woman and I can't believe you would put your own laziness ahead of your children's best possible social and intellectual education.

Just from what you have written I say NO, Do NOT home school them. If a child is home schooled there is cetain subjects that MUST be taught to them. And I am pretty sure that there is an exam that they must take and pass in order to be considered a high school graduate. As good as home schooling may be, I also believe that by home schooling you are depriving your kid/s of a kid/s life. I mean he/she canNOT go to the prom (unless he/she is asked by another student) They canNOT be on any of the school sports teams. There is just so many things they canNOT do as they are NOT a student of the school. Don't get me wrong about home schooling there are some advantages. I myself do not believe the kids are being taught the right way in schools today but I also would not want to deprive my kid of life as a kid in school. They can learn all so much by being in school. Things they would not learn in home school.

Please don't do it. I don't mean to sound harsh, but if you are too lazy to get the kids off to school, I can bet the laziness will just transfer over with them at home. You will be doing more harm then good. Try to get to bed earlier. Get their lunches and clothes ironed the night before. And set everything out so your money runs smoother. Also invest in a coffee pot with a timer so it can start brewing before you get up.

From this and your previous questions I can see that these children are causing you nothing but trouble.

You poor thing. I think the best thing you could is take a page from the tale of Hansel and Gretel - take them out into the woods and leave them somewhere. The choice between a finding a gingerbread house or a slow death from exposure then becomes their problem while you fart and roll over for another hours kip at 11am.

WOW! you definitely get the award for the laziest mother of the year.. get off your arsehole! and get your kids to school.. it is for their well being to go to school. you don't want them to grow up to be lazy a$$hats like you.. home schooling your children is very involved and takes alot of work... you can't even get out of bed in the morning , how the hell are you going to get their assignments , tests etc together? like ive said b4 people should have to have a license to have kids..

What I would suggest to do is place adverts for each of the children on ebay, or maybe even sell them as a lot. Doing this not only results in recieving a bit of cash, But also gets rid of a major dilema, Therefore allowing you to stay in bed.

I dont know if your joking or not, but i think kids should only be removed from school if its essential! they miss out on important socialising that is all part of growing up.
The only time i would consider taking kids out of school would be for bullying etc that could not be solved.
have you considered seeing your doctor? maybe there is a reason for your lack of energy?
Or consider maybe a car share or something with other parents?
I dont want to be mean but you shouldnt punish your kids and make them miss out on important education just cos you cant get out of bed! i still dont know if ur joking or not! i cant believe any sane parent would consider this cos they cant get out of bed!!
