About seven years ago, I had my GA license revoked for failure to pay a speeding ticket. I sold my car and haven't owned a car or driven since. If I apply for a new DL in Kentucky, will they be able to tell my GA license was revoked, and if so, will they detain me or try to arrest me for the fine in GA, which still isn't paid?

It depends. Some states don't share info with each other. Like Georgia and South Carolina don't share driving historys. They will share criminal historys, but not driving historys. So it will depend. As for them arresting you. Probably not. Georgia will not extradite you on a speeding citation and who ever would stop you in Kentucky will most likely tell you to go back to Georgia and pay the ticket.

I believe unless you are unbelievably lucky and the computer is down, you will be nabbed as having a revoked driver's license.
The system does go down either for routine maintenance (usually 0500 hrs. on Sunday morning when I worked), but it is usually working during business hours.
The Federal Government started a thing called the Non-Resident Violator's Compact to stop people from merely removing states from their itinerary until the statute of limitations had run. This kind of put an end to the good old truckers having about 5 licenses in their pocket, then playing roulette when we pulled them over.
Even if you get a valid license, if we check and find out you had a revoked DL elsewhere, we can arrest you for driving on the revoked DL as this invalidates your current one.
It really is time to pay the piper for your little misdeed in Georgia. Those court clerks and DL places have really long memories, and when they punch you up on the computer, it's like it all happened yesterday. Coimputers don't forgive or forget unless they are programmed that way and I give you one guess as to how Georgia programmed theirs!

Yes, they'll know when the run it in the computer. And they'll ask you when you're filling out your paper work. Lying would be getting a license under false pretenses and cause your Kentucky license to be suspended plus fines and possible jail time. Why not just pay the Georgia fine?

Nope...no license for you. Your name will come up in the database and you'll be denied immediately. In addition...any outstanding warrants will also pop up. Once arrested...and you will be....you'll sit and cool your heels with hookers, addicts and other female criminals who'll eyeball you greedily while licking their lips and whispering to one another, glancing in your direction. All this while Georgia decides if they want to drag you a couple of states over back from Kentucky.
Somehow the though of being pinned down in the back of a holding tank by four very big, very mean females while a fifth grabs you by the hair and forces your face into her crotch seems like an awful lot of aggravation over a lousy warrant for a bad license.
Maybe you should re-evaluate here and get this Gerogia mess straightened out before you go any further. What do you think?

A friend of mine did this actually. His license was suspended in Ohio and he moved to California, he was able to get his license in CA, but he told them he hadn't had a license anywhere else. They do ask that. However he was pulled over by the Highway patrol and the kind officer was nice enough to inform him his license was suspended in Ohio and therefore he was rovoking it on the spot. Nothing major happened as far as jail, but he was then forced to pay his debt to recieve his CA license back. Seems like alot to go through to me, I would just contact the court your suposed to pay and setup a "payment plan" and see if they will enable you to obtain your drivers license. Generally they are not out to "punish" you as much as they just want your money.

Yes they will no as far as detaining you not hardly for not paying a traffic ticket but you will not be able to get your license until you pay your ticket and pay for your license to be reinstated.

I'm sure they would find out once they entered your info into the computer. Why not just pay the fine...
