I have heard that conventional treatments are unsuitable for young animals so what can be done?

dawn dish soap....only that brand.....depending on the weight of your puppies some are to small to use flea killer on them and this works....i breed yorkies ...so the puppies are tiny.....after that to keep them from getting back on your puppy spray flea spray on a wash rag and gently run it across you puppy...do not just spray it on the puppy directly...it gets in there blood stream and could be fatal at high doses....good luck

How old ? If the puppies are still nursing, by putting the flea treatment on the mother the oils from the mother will transfer to the puppies. Otherwise if they are not nursing, then they should be old enough to treat,(per instructions by weight).

Flea medication from a vet.Frontline works a charm on all of mine.

I hand pick them out. And squash them with my thumb. Do I get points for ikiness. But seriously, bath and blow dry and the fleas sort of get sluggish. Then you can pick them out.
