Exercise and eat a healthy balanced diet.
Don't eat deep fried foods cut down on fast food such as Mcdonalds and foods that are high in sugar such as lollies and chocolate only have these foods as a treat when you go out with your friends.

The teenage years can bring a bit of wieght gain due the hormonal changes, sometimes it goes away and sometimes not. The best way to get to it on its way is a good eating style and exersize. I think that diets should be avoided, they mess with the balance of things to much. Just eat good; vegitables, fruits, meats. Don't go crazy on the junkfood or fast food. Once a week is ok if you have to have it but steer clear if you can. Other things to stay away from are fried foods and things high in saturated fat. Eat a good balance of protien and carbs. I know the media wants people to think that one or the other is bad for you but truth be told, balance is best. Don't eat until your stomach hurts either, try to eat several times a day (small meals and snacks) rather than the traditional three meals. This will help set your metabolism, if you are like most teenagers you eat sporadically, this is not good for you. If you eat small often, your body will get used to the idea that its next nourishment isn't far off and will burn fat more efficently. There may a bit of gain at first, don't freak out, your body will adjust. I suggest something like oatmeal for breakfast say at 8am then a piece of fruit, yogurt or cottage cheese around 10:30, for lunch a sandwich and some carrots or something about noon, go for a salad at 3 or so and then do dinner, have some fruit or veggies again around 7:30-8pm. Keep the portions small, if you don't you will gain lots more.
As far as exercise, walking is great for anyone. You have to get a good pace for at least 20 minutes to do any good though. Ride a bike to get around, its as good as walikng. Yoga is also a great thing to start when you are young, amazon sells a great MTV yoga DVD for like 10 bucks. Its easy to use and won't tie you up in a pretzel. I don't recommend getting a gym membership at your age, just stick to regular activites and keep active.

Walk. The best way to lose weight and gain tone is to walk everywhere you can. Your friends can help. Have your parents drop you off at the mall for about 4 hours on a weekend. You like to shop? You'll lose weight walking to all the stores. Have fun with it so it doesn't seem like exercise.

Live a lifestyle of healthy eating habits. Follow a diet of fruits and vegetables without all of the fattening butter and/or sauces. Eat grilled chicken instead of chicken nuggets. Deviate from other fattening foods as well. You'd be surprised how many inches you lose vs. weight if you cut fat out of your diet. In addition, try to get a lot of exercise and be active. Drink lots of water so your stomach feels full.
