Well, by rewarding her for her shaking with a cuddle, you've actually encouraged her fear. The best thing you can do is to let her work it our for herself that there's no issue.

It's going to be hard to break now. You need to, if possible let her out when it gets noisy and you see her get fearful, or distract her with a toy...a quick game of fetch is good. However, don't cuddle her.

I have a Golden with the same problem. It took nearly a year, but she finally got to the point that a bomb could explode and she'd look at it and then at me...and go on about her business.

It's sad when people mistreat an animal. Just continue what you are doing. Show her that it's OK and just pet her until she stops. She knows you love her but, she's pretty much going to be afraid of loud noises and raised voices. She will be OK, some dogs just shake. Mine does when she knows we are leaving. She too was from an abusive home.

Does you family know that loud noises bother her, if not I would tell them asap. Even though you have had her for 7 yrs. doesn't mean that she is completely over her insecurities and may never get over them completely, also I would suggest that you have your family (all of them) pet her and make sure that she knows that they won't do her any harm. Even though they have never hurt her before if they really haven't pet her or interact with her on a regular basis (instead they just dismiss her because she is a dog) then that could be helping her still be nervous.

Hope I was some help and good luck!

Give the dog some time. Let her get comfortable with your entire family.

As an alternative, try to keep arguments with your family at a minimum. I know family discussions are inevitable, but people don't always HAVE to yell.

you know what. try to spend more time with your dog, give her more care. cuddle up with her, and take her for long walks. then when she's being with you, se won't feel like she gonna be harmed or anything,

at the same time, try to tell your family not to raise their voices so often.
