Yeah some people are entitled to a Sure Start Maternity Grant but not everyone. You must be in a certain criteria before you are eligible to qualify for this £500 grant. You mentioned that you are working so i doubt if you will qualify , although if you have a partner who fits the criteria then you may be in with a chance of getting it.

You MAY be eligible if YOU or YOUR PARTNER recieve one of the fllowing benefits:
* Income Support
* Income-based Jobseekers allowance
* Pension Credit
* Child Tax Credit (higher rate than the family element)
* Working Tax Credit (disabled or severely disabled element is included)

AND

You must also meet one of the following criteria:
* You or your partner is pregnant or have just given birth within the last 3 months
*You or your partner has adopted a child or have been granted a residence order for a child within the last 3 months and if the child is less than one year old.
*You and your partner has been granted a parental order for a surrogate birth within the last 3 months.
*You are getting benefits for a dependent under the age of 20 who is pregnant or has given birth in the last 3 months.

The earliest you can apply is 29 weeks pregnant until the child is 3 months old.

Hope this helps you!
