Hi all. I'm getting married in August and my theme is wish upon a star. I have found star bottle stoppers, but I can't give a bottle stopper to a kid. I mean, they can't drink! So what do I give the kids? And I don't know how to determine who's what age. I mean if someone is under 21, they don't need a wine bottle stopper. But I can't go around asking everyone's age and ID. And I don't want anyone to get offended if one gets a bottle stopper and one gets candy. I thought the small kids will be obvious and they can get candy, but what about the one's that are older, but still young? And how useful do you think a bottle stoppers is? Thanks a bunch!

I like the idea of the matching bottle openers - lots of things need bottle openers, not just alcoholic beverages. Most favors in the end are not entirely useful, they are more of a memento of the wedding. Something you find later on and reflect on the wedding you received it at. Don't stress over this one, just ride it out. And who's to say someone (if they're underage) can't hold it until they are of age.... Relax, enjoy your preparations. Everything is going to be beautiful! ps: I LOVE your theme!!!

Simple- depends on the ages. The things you should give the children should be able to occupy them at some point, at least that was what i was told. For the children who come to my wedding who are under 10- i am including a box of crayons, a coloring book, some smaller toys and a few pieces of candy. Nothing spectacular and amazingly cheap (think dollar store). The older children (there are only 4 between ages 10-15) will be getting some candy and a gift card to McDonalds. I know that may seem tacky, but the kids love McDonalds, and can use it to get what they want and it wont break my bank. I also included a handwritten thank you note in their bags thanking them.

Candy is always a hit and bubbles are ok for those over age 4. Under age 4 if constantly monitored.

The bottle stopper issue is a tricky one, and I can't say I have a solution, however, I have an idea for the kiddies.

I read on here a couple days ago where a bride was giving the kids coloring books & crayons as favors. That way if they get bored or act up while the reception is swinging, you can pull them out and set them down for a little while.

Just a suggestion.

Congratulations

The bottle stoppers would still be ok for under 21's if they were mid to late teens. Little kids might like the little wedding bubble blowers. Maybe photo frames? Little silver ones?

I don't drink at all and got a bottle stopper at a wedding. They gave them to girls and matching openers to guys. I had no problem with it.

PS Congratulations

my cousin's wedding they had glass balls (kinda like those xmas ones), painted blue. I wonder if you could get ones with stars on them.

glow inthe dark star stickers for the children, you can usually buy them quite cheaply.

star shaped stamps.

star shaped wands for the children.

For teen girls star shaped earings.

You could get a range of things to do with stars not just bottle stoppers so people can trade if they dont get what they want,

Brach's makes a star shaped chocolate candy that you could put in a small plastic wrap with ribbon. Bubbles are great idea, too.

How about a bottle of bubbles with your name and wedding date on them?
