Teach them to amuse EACH OTHER! 2kids-1 nerf ball or mylar balloon to whap back & forth in the air, 1 wind up car to zoom back & forth, soft-pillow fighting, indoor baseball & bat, a trashcan & nerf ball are great for basketball, if you have a large room with tile flooring they can pull each other around on a big towel, 1 can hide a toy & the other finds it, a big cardboard box with wadded up wrapping paper or colored newspaper is fun to play in (black & white newspaper ink comes off on them tho), pillowcase sac racing, throw a bedsheet over the kitchen table so they can play under neath, teach them hide & seek, etc. My 3 yr old grand daughter loves to take ivory soap & draw on the sliding glass doors then I give her water & a sponge to wash it off along with paper towels to dry. Sometimes she wants to go right back & do it again, passing hours! But you have teach them not to get soap in their eyes. She has learned to maneuver around on Nik.com & will spend hours on the computer. She also likes chalkboard, playdough, building blocks, finger paints & bathtub paints. She & ALL her bathtub toys are in the tub everyday whether she needs a bath or not!

I'm a big fan of baking for keeping kids amused. Nigella has a great fail-safe recipe for biscuits in her Domestic Goddess book that can be cut out into all different shapes. They're called Butter Cut-out Biscuits. The good thing about these is that it makes enough dough to split in half and put one in the freezer if you need it for another rainy day. A selection of cookie cutters and a couple of rolling pins and they'll be absorbed for a while. The good thing is they only take about 10 mins to cook as well so your kids won't have to wait long to taste them. Otherwise, have you tried some of the games on websites? The CBeebies site is good www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies and has some games on it that more than one can play at a time.

Get them art supplies and let them go to town, an easel would let them both play together. Get out blankets and help them build a ten room tent. And i know that video games are on the tv but at least the ones they have these days can help teach them a bit

In my experience, boys of that age love anything that makes alot of noise, or alot of mess. How good are your nerves at the mo, or how house proud are you? You could even join in and paint each others faces. Small children love it, when they see "grown ups" fooling around, and making a clown of themselves. Wish mine were that age again, there is so much you can do with them. Whatever, hey, have fun.x

try baking.
they love mixing, making a mess and especially eating the finished product.

any kind of art is always a big hit.
try collage using pasta, lentils, scraps of material, basically any thing you have laying round the place.

how about a big tidy up? it's more fun than it sounds and they often "find" toys they haven't played with in ages and they'll keep them happy and quiet and give you a tea break.

drawing is one of the best form of amusement for that age group, art therapy lol,
just give them some ideas of what to draw,
give em loads of paper and crayons,or whatever you have. aslong its supervised, lol or they might get crayon up there nose, which is time to take a photo lol.
but i do art with children that age and it keeps them amused for ages, xx good luck hope you all enjoy it xx
