why do you point out the contradictions , inaccuracies or barbaric laws in each others book ...
when in doing so , it only serves as a means for people to point them out in your own
both are old books , with old laws ....
both have been translated and lost content or context
why when you are so close in your beliefs do you discredit each other and not support each other

those of us who are not Christian or Muslim ...
would most likely appreciate your religions more if there wasnt this fight to be right going on between you

Like all faiths & Religions, they have Humans who think that they are right in what they say or do, and that other people are wrong. I am a christian, but I also believe that every faith has pieces of truth hidden in them. I also like to learn about other peoples faiths as i can then understand where they are coming from. Ofcourse there will be times that I disagree with other people, but I am only human, so will nether be perfect.

The Christian Ethos is 'Do unto others as you would have done to you' I do not believe that, that is a barbaric law, infact if everyone in this world was to live by this rule, then the would would be a better place and ther would be plenty for everyone!

The Bible can be misinterpreted as contradictions as the truth is revealed in spirit and those who have not accepted God can not understand spiritual meanings. There truly are no contradictions in the Bible there may well be typos and errors of that nature. The truth of the Bible stands inerrant. don't misinterpret that to mean it is without error but it is definitely without contradiction though many could argue it is their understanding that is at fault. These two beliefs Christians and Muslims being anywhere close to the same is only to those who do not know the truth. It is not good for any to fight over these things as you say but it is necessary to share the truth.

Pangel, you and I know that books as old as they likely have contradictions, flaws, or simply the words were lost in translating text... but both religions *fervently* believe their books are perfect and inerrant. Muslims believe the Bible is horribly in error and point out the different translations and "versions" of the Bible; while they say the Quran is preserved by Allah and perfect in every nature, with no separate versions. Then Christians say the same thing about the Quran but mostly point out the differences in their beliefs rather than the different versions of the Quran.

My point is, to them, they blindly believe that the world is centered around text instead of life and they will never see what you and I may see... that life is much more than a book.

Its the age old question - who is right? Is anybody? is fundamentalism not the source of world wars?

Personally i do not go in for religion, i believe in being a good person and enjoying life. However, Scientology is great for taking the P at the moment. Nutters

Both are "Johnny-come lately",by millennia,to the source,Judaism, from which both claim descent.

As one of the contributors said,we are all people of the book

In all cases,it is not the religion but people(politicians in particular)
manipulating interpretations to suit them selves.

Our hope lies in education creating awareness,as it seems to be doing.

An open debate like this one, involving so many people, would not have happened 10/20 years ago.The joy of internet is no ranting and raving!

The Old Testament Christianity and its now form Islam are both religions which impose dogmas on their followers, based not on logic or reason, but the edicts of their respective founders. The watchword in both is sin, and punishment; they are both brutal manifestations of cruelty and thier tenets make fanatics and slaves of their followers.

I don't want to fight with Muslims and would gladly enter the Mosque, I wish Muslims would come into the church and enjoy the love that is available to them as well as none Christians. God really does want us to love eachother, I am ready, I love to talk to people of the veil, it is scary as we have our different cultures - I embrace this though. I think it's sad when others don't make any effort. I love new Cultures. Just wish the wars would stop. Just wish the Africans didn't have to eat rats. May God bless them

i understand ur point but i dont think its a fith. i am christian and i dont bag or ridicule muslims or point out their bad ideas and stuff. its not neccessarily a fight, i mean, we christians would like to see as many people as possible join us because we want them to live knowing God and things, but it doesnt mean we point out problems with the other religions. sure we might not agree with some etuff, but it doesnt mean we're at war. i have a muslim friend and i love her, i dont really take note that she is a different religion, i mean i notice, but it doesnt bother me that much. i hope that gives u more insight

Well, this is questions and answers and no matter what, you will get debates at times. Both want to be right, and both will defend with whatever they have just to prove what they say is right. Good luck trying to stop this, as it has been going on for a long time.

This fight has been going on for millennia and will continue until the end of human history (which might not be too far away).
