I have a boxer dog who is 10 years old, and we have been told she may have Cushing's Disease. Does anyone have any information about this or know any websites where i might find out about it.

Thanks

Hi, I haven't heard of cushings in dogs, but it is quite common in horses. I would think it is the same thing. In horses it is a disease of the pituarity gland, causing a really curly coat and laminitis (a hoof disease). If you go to the library they should have a book called 'Veterinary Notes for Dog Owners'. This should have details on symptoms and treatment. In horses it is a condition that is managed rather than cured. Hope this helps.

try google. And although it may sound daft, ask your doctor if he has a leaflet on it. Humans can suffer from it too and occasionally if I take in a dog with say epilepsy and once with legge-perthes disease, my lovely doctor gave me leaflets to learn about it.
