It seems to say at one point that they got kidnapped and the servants got killed while they were having a party in the house, and in the same chapter a few verses down it says they were having a party in the house and they got killed.

Hold on, lemme go read it...

The sons and daughters were in the house eating and drinking and servants ran to tell them of all that was "fell upon and had been taken away," and then a great wind came and destroyed the house and that's how Job lost his children. The servants were reporting on animals and such that had been taken away.

It doesnt say they were kidnapped. It says the animals were stolen. All Jobs herds of oxen, etc were taken.

His children were killed when the house collapsed on them.

It doesnt say that they were kidnapped, it was his animals that were kidnapped. His children were killed when they attended a party at Job's oldest sons home.

Where does it say they were kidnapped?
-------
Job 1:13-19 One day when Job's sons and daughters were dining at the oldest brother's house, a messenger arrived at Job's home with this news: "Your oxen were plowing, with the donkeys feeding beside them, when the Sabeans raided us. They stole all the animals and killed all the farmhands. I am the only one who escaped to tell you." While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news: "The fire of God has fallen from heaven and burned up your sheep and all the shepherds. I am the only one who escaped to tell you." While he was still speaking, a third messenger arrived with this news: "Three bands of Chaldean raiders have stolen your camels and killed your servants. I am the only one who escaped to tell you." While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news: "Your sons and daughters were feasting in their oldest brother's home. Suddenly, a powerful wind swept in from the desert and hit the house on all sides. The house collapsed, and all your children are dead. I am the only one who escaped to tell you."

And call to mind Job when he cried to his Lord, 'Distress has afflicted me, and Thou art the Most Merciful of all who show mercy.'

So We heard his prayer and removed the distress from which he suffered, and We restored to him his family and the like thereof with them, as a mercy from US, and as an admonition to the worshippers.
