Unfortunately, there is nothing to help him, except for medication. If the vet is expensive and so are the medications, then you might want to think about this. Instead of having to go to the vets and go through all that jazz, you could try 1-800-PetMeds, you can decide how many pills you want to buy in each RX and pay by pill and have it delievered to your house. You can also ensure that your dog doesn't run out by reordering before he runs out. I don't know how much it is for your vet plus the meds, but you only pay .36 cents for each pill, which seems decent to me. Good luck and I hope he feels better.

There isn't an alternative. Glaucoma is a serious & painful condition & needs to be treated properly. If you have difficulty paying for the treatment, you need to discuss this with the vet. Don't leave your dog in pain.

If the glaucoma is giving him pain, and the medications are not helping, it would be kinder to simply have the eye removed. He can't see out of it anyway.

I have friends who have been through this with their dogs, all have reported that the dog was much happier once the painful eye was gone.
