You should first accept the fact that the person you once love is not anymore by your side.Start with yourself. love yourself more, gain confidence and trust in yourself.Do things of your interest. Have time with family and friends.Join clubs and organizations. Listen to music and read books. TRAVEL and discover the world.
I think it is not into forgetting but accepting and letting your heart mend for the future. Let go and live life. most of all enjoy it.Be happy and keep smiling surely someone destined to be with you will come along.
Good Luck!

Spend time with your girlfriends, or sisters if you have any. Go out and do fun things together. Watch movies with cute actors you love to obsess over :o) . Focus on yourself and your hobbies, even if it is hard. Have your friends check in on you regularly, and call them instead whenever you have an urge to call Mr. Wrong. Do lots of good things for yourself. Eventually you will heal, and your last bf will just be another stepping stone in your path of life. Someday you'll realize you don't think of him anymore, and maybe you'll be with a fellow who is a hundred times better for you. Don't waste your time with the wrong guy when the right one is out there looking for you, too.
Good luck, I hope you feel better soon.

If i'm reading that properly, you don't think you can be with him because you guys don't share some stuff in common, firstly, if you guys don't share stuff in common, why bother? making the whole process of forgetting him that much easier.

Our brain does have the capacity to compartmentalize our thoughts. It is possible to force it to forget certain events if we really focus on it. So do that, totally forget about him, keep yourself busy with family and activities. It works... try it.
Good luck!

i know its hard, but you have to focus on other things.read a book,do physical activities,go out to social events, keep your mind busy as possible and along the line you'll meet someone that will make you almost completely forget....but it takes time doesn't happen overnight.although that's possible too..good luck.

It's going to take time. In the meantime, keep busy, but not with other boyfriends if you're not ready. They won't solve anything.
