I have actually seen GITS, so I have an answer worth listening too. I think that GITS is a fairly accurate representation of the future, as we already have developed advanced prosthetics. But the cyberbrain probably won't be achieved by 2030. I think GITS will go against the Christian religion, as having a prosthetic body would also mean having infinite life. the machines will not wear out, and if you get damaged, then you can just change bodies. This might also let history repeat itself, if humans ever figure out the "coding" for past figures in history, which is a wiccan belief. I do not believe that GITS if farfetched and will eventually be achieved.
