You should know your dog's expected whelping date by calculating 63 days from the date she was mated which presumably is today.

Dogs, like other mammals, are not 100% certain to give birth on the due date. She may go one or two days over. If there is no sign by Sunday you might have to have her checked out by the Vet.

Sometimes labour stops and starts and it isn't all that obvious to inexperienced owners that something is wrong so watch out for her being restless, panting excessively or showing signs of spasms - this could be something as minor as her clenching her paws as she feels a pain.

Some b**ches have been known to go nearly a week past their date every time they have a litter for no apparent reason and with no ill effects.

However with a bit of luck she might deliver today!

No, they could be a few days either side of the due date.

Years ago my parents used to breed dogs, and the difference in the delivery date and the due date meant that on Boxing day Mum was helping 2 of our dogs give birth at the same time!

The answer is yes.

Dogs have a gestation period of 63 days, and very seldom vary from that. They usually mate several times in a period of several days. When we think they are earlier or later than the 63 days it's because we don't know exactly which one of those days she got pregnant. To get the due date it is always best to count 63 days from the 1st time you see them mate. Then in case she didn't get pregnant that first day, at least you will be ready for the puppies.

Yes, they do. The Dogs have 61-63 day "gestation" period. Which means that the litters will develop for 61-63 days, after the fertilisation of the egg cells, usually there are 9-12 egg cells.

dogs do go to dates unless a complication occurs, dont forget though that the gestation period for breeds differs due to size.
I would watch her, take her temp if its at around 101 then she is about to deliver, she should have already started to nest and tear up bedding. She will go off her food and will even vomit. Dogs, like all mammals (including humans) experience some variability in their gestation period. Be patient - the puppies will be here when they're ready.
