Hi,
Congratulations on the baby!
I had love handle problems since I was 15! Finally lost them. I'd suggest two exercises:
1. Grab a light aluminum or plastic pole. Something that is really really light. Spread your feet apart a little bit (say 1 foot) so that you are standing comfortably. Place it on your shoulders so that the pole is now parallel to the ground. Place your arms over the pole and turn to either side. Do 50 counts per set, and at least 3 sets a day.
2. Lie down on the ground and bend your knees upwards (crunches position). Hold a medicine ball (or make do with a basketball). Ask somebody to step on your toes lightly, with arms stretched wide. Now get up (just like doing a crunch) and pass the ball to either of his hands - such that you would be stretching sideways every time you pass the ball. Go back to ground without the ball in hand
Come up again, grab the ball and go back to the ground. Repeat step 1, passing the ball to the other hand.
Both exercises sound simple.. but the work. Trust me!

Im going to contradict what everyone else has written so far.
It is not the situps or whatever other exercise people come up with that will make you lose the infamous "love handles."
Think about this a minute:
The "love handles" are the excess skin or fat that has deposited itself in that area, they are not made of muscle. So when you do those exercises you are not working the skin/fat/love handles, you are working the muscle underneath the skin.
There is no such thing as spot reducing. It is physiologically impossible.
Absolutely no reason to do 100 or 200 ab exercises a day. The abdominals are not any different then any other muscle in your body with the exception of your heart muscle. If your trainer is having you do that many then you are overworking them and overtraining your abs.
Learn to use a swiss/stability ball properly and safely for working the abdominals most effectively.
I hope your trainer does a proper assessment otherwise they will be just guessing what you need. They should have a proper understanding/kowledge of Post-natal exercise and the workings of the abdominals and pelvic floor after having a child.
Exercise will help tone, shape and burn calories. It is the nutritional aspect that will determine whether or not those love handles disappear.
Congrats on your healthy baby and your desire to stay healthy not only for yourself but for your baby also.

There are two pieces of equipment and a workout that will suit you well. The Ab Lounge is good for abs and the Ab Doer is great for love handles and the workout is Turbo Jam which works on all of them. If you can't get the Ab Lounge or Ab Doer, then take an ordinary chair and some resistance bands and put them under the leg of the chair so they appear caught on each side (one for each arm) sit in the chair and hold your arms out so they look like a field goal and pull your body to one side slowly and bend slowly back and alternate sides back and forth. Do 3 sets of 20 reps to each side. Make sure that the band is on your arm in the right way so it actually provides resistance to work the muscles and if the band is uncomfortable, put a hand towel under the band. To kill two birds with one stone, try to keep your legs up while you are sitting, this will help the abs. This is what my sister did and she lost hers in about 2 months.

Many people ask me how they can slim down. I recommend that people eat right and exercise. However, if they would like a little "help", I suggest using natural Hoodia (it's important to note that not all Hoodia works well, even if the bottle says "pure" or "standard").
The Hoodia sold at http://tinyurl.com/y389on is in my opinion the best Hoodia on the market. It's pure, has no side effects, and they give you a free 15 day sample (there is a $7.99 shipping and handling charge, but they also give you free recipe and diet guides). Fantastic results have been seen with this particular Hoodia.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.
