I was a smoker, so I can tell you what the cravings are like - need something in your hand, need a time-breaker, can't think of anything else, blah, blah, blah. So what is it that obese people face? Do they get food cravings similar to nicotine cravings? IS it just cravings or something else as well? I mean, my question might sound simplistic and/or silly, but I really want to know. You can contact me if you want to know what a deprived smoker feels like!

No difference.

Addiction is addiction. And they both have awful consequences.

Accept: Smoking you can stop completely and never purchase them again, however, eaters have to still purchase food which I would believe make it very difficult to do when you are craving for the items you use to eat and now have to in small portions.

i was a smoker for about 20 years..been over weight all of my life...even at age 11 the doctor had me on diet pills. I quit smoking...been smoke free for almost 9 years now... Food addiction is real... I was addicted to the point if I didnt eat something in an hour and a half I would get the shakes, feel like i was gonna pass out as if I went all day without eating..I went to the doctor for blood work to make sure i was not diabetic... was not. God took my appitite away and that is when I realized I was addicted to food. I lost 60 lbs on the last 10 months but still have a way to go.

I didnt really get food cravings..i just needed food...my body felt like it NEEDED food. Looking back i was going through withdrawals...just like a drug addict.... Now I still get the shakes if I go too long without food, but it is more like 4 hours instead of only one. I eat smaller meals now and healthier choices and it seems to have helped.

That is my experience... others may have different ones.
Hope that answers your question

Well, I was overweight as a kid..not obese.. but I had cravings for food, usually fatty, sugary food.. usually every hour. I also felt hungry all the time and very very tired.

well if the person is obese it depends if its genetical, or a disorder. if it is a disorder the person just uses food to control or cover up the way that they feel about something. it becomes their way to cope even though it is not healthy to cope that way... much like smoking is a coping mechanism... an unhealthy one... if its genetical they may not do anything to really contribute to it... also back to the disorder when these ppl are eating they tend not to realize how much that they are eating they eat because they "feel hungry" but probably really arent.

It depends on the reason for the obesity. Sometimes obesity have medical/hormonal reasons and is not because of over eating. If the obesity is because of over eating then it is like any other addiction.
