You are sure she is not chewing it out from nerves? I have known one or two that were nervous dogs and they would just chew the hair out of their tails and feet etc.

Have the vet run test for Cushings and Addisons disease. Signs of Cushings are hair loss, excessive water consumption, fatigue. But from experience with one of my foster doxies sometimes its just one thing. Bunny only had the water thing. I have heard of other doxies only having the hair loss. So make your vet do the proper test. You will not regret it even if you are just ruling it out. Look up information on Cushings. It's terrible and hard to get under control but you could give your dog a better quality of life by treatment. This could kill her if not caught. If your vet didn't think to do testing for that then find another vet. He should know better.

Get a referral to an animal dermatologist.Yup, they really do exist.Nope, they aren't crazy expensive.Sometimes, it is really difficult to get demodexx, or mites, to show up on skin scrapes.Ask your vet to scrape the top of the foot.Sounds crazy, but sometimes they appear on totally healthy looking skin.Good luck!

Have your vet check this dog for cushing's. Cushings can make hair fall out, the hair can be very thin. On a dachshund, a cushing's dog will also look like they carry most of their weight in their belly.
