what is more useful in the united states? what course is better? electrical engineering or electronics and communications engineering?

Both are very good career paths, but I feel that anything dealing with computers is the way to go these days.

I think electronics and communications engineering is better because it has a wider range of jobs.
You can go into the IT field with it and also you might specialise in the communications industry..
for example you could work for telecommunications company like Telecom and vodafone etc, and specialize in Gsm which pays really high salaries everywhere around the world.

About 80% of the guys ( and a couple of the girls) in my family are Electrical Engineers. Sometimes they're on a job.. .sometimes not. Depends on the ebbs and flows of the construction business. It pays good... but the benefits are widely varied.... from nothing.. .to full coverage. Be careful what kind of contracts you get into.
