Proud to have a president with some guts, huh?

Let me start by answering ans asnswerer's question.

Phillipjones<2003:
You asked "...Why do good brave soldiers always have the worst leaders?"

Because to avoid being just another military dictatorship we must have civilian leadership.
Yet all the smart ones join the military!
The Dumb ones go into politics
The REALLY dumb ones are liberal and join the democrats.

To answer the askers original question... a certain song's lyrics sums it up best for me....

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'll proudly stand up, next to you
And defend her still today
Because there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA!

~ Lee Greenwood~ "Proud To Be An American"

When that happened it didn't mean **** to me. Didn't help anything and had no real affect on me or my country. What does America care if a statue is standing or not thousands of miles away. If that statue falling had meant that health care had been standardized and made available to all US citizens, then yeah it would have made me proud. I don't need to see a piece of metal or stone crumble to feel appreciation for not being born in a third world country. I do admire the fact that Bush says what he believes and, for the most part, does what he says. But sometimes brains are better than balls.

And as far as expounding on my views with the current situation in Iraq, forget it, I'll state that when someone asks for it, I'm just here to answer the question that was asked.

What made me proud to be an American was the joy of the Iraqi people after the statue was torn down, not the actual act of tearing it down.
And now I don't feel proud anymore because it's been 4 years since then and the Iraqis aren't so happy anymore. Infact, a lot of those Iraqis who celebrated the statue tumbling down are probably dead by now.

No ya nitwit...Saddam was the only guy that could run a snakepit like IRAQ.

Only a superficial american would think tearing down statues actually meant anything in the LONG RUN.

Our President is a coward...but our troops have guts

It is people that are as stupid as you that need to go to IRAQ

oh please

tons of articles have been made about this. read the newspapers please, will you fellow americans????

the people that brought down the statue were PAIED by the army! some (even most) of them were actually the translators of the soliders. the iraki people was humiliated when they saw their country was occupied by an invader. you are not happy when your nation has lost all its independance.

you would be happy to have been bombed for months, seeing your relatives and your friends dying? you think democracy is putting to power ancien criminels, ''released'' by the good old american army? will you STOP looking for ANYTHING to make you proud of something you should be ashamed??

YOUR GOVERNEMENT HAS KILLED HUNDRED OF THOUSANDS OF IRAKIS. IS THAT MEANLESS TO YOU?

you have hanged a dictator because you thought (you will never be able to say that he did it without any doubts because you never gave him a decent trial) he has killed 135 people. Well... your arogant president is responsible for the death of 3 times this number of killings daily. is that having guts??

and someone talked about joy. well, let me tell you. you are watching FOX NEWS too much

I was proud to be an American long before that statue was torn down.

You are a pack of brain washed idiots - the president is responsible for 800,000 iraqi and 3,000 american deaths by illegally invading and uniting the arab world (and much of the rest of world) against america. The consequences from this was will be felt for decades.

YES!!!! IT WAS GREAT!!!! THERE SHOULD NEVER BE A STATUE HONORING A MURDERER!!
I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN & I'M PROUD TO HAVE A GREAT PRESIDENT THAT WILL STAND UP TO MEN LIKE SADDAM THAT KILLS AMERICANS.
PRESIDENT BUSH IS TRYING TO KEEP ANOTHER 9-11 FROM HAPPENING.
I DON'T WANT OUR SOLDIERS TO HAVE TO LEAVE THEIR HOMES, & CERTAINLY DON'T WANT THEM TO HAVE TO GIVE THEIR LIVES, BUT IT'S REQUIRED OR MEN LIKE SADDAM WILL COME HERE AND GLADLY KILL EACH & EVERY AMERICAN IN THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE.

MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS AMERICA!!!
