So.....I'm Muslim (go ahead, I can take it). I know what I am and what I believe and what I stand for and what my religion teaches and I don't need to get the approval of anyone, nor do I feel the need to defend myself or my religion.
That being said, why do people (of all religions) get so upset when their beliefs are ridiculed or criticized. Who really cares what critics think?? You won't change their opinion so why engage in senseless and often hostile debate...makes no sense!!!
I don't think that Allah/God needs me to defend him.

look at it this way, when someone criticizes you about your hair being the color it is. their hair is blonde and yours is brown. what happens? now, understand that this is coming more from a female point of view. what happens? you get upset, of course. but what starts to truly happen? anyone? anyone? the seed has been planted on the attack that is so overlooking by socializing. the power of suggestion goes a long way my friend. this person who's criticizing you about your hair color made good points about what would happen if you changed it to their hair color. so what do you do? you end up changing it.
now, yes, that was a very retarded way to explain it, but there was a point. people get aggitated when they are approached and suddenly have to defend their beliefs all of a sudden. with this process, they begin to think that maybe they are wrong. the "what if's" start popping into their head. then they change. power of suggestion is very much like a subliminal message. my views are very twisted, yes, but if any of this makes sense to you as it does with me, then kudos for you!
i've learned in life to only question people's religion if they are lost. ONLY if they are lost. if they are strong in what they believe in, then that's great. but i like to help people find their way with beliefs that work for them.
just to clarify - i am a dark pagan and in no way do i pressure my beliefs or religion on others.

I am a Christian and it pisses the crap out of me when other Christians ridicule those of other or no faiths. If we all believe in our own God, then we are all correct. I do not believe that any one person who did not believe in God will be "damned" or whatever it is. Believe what you want to believe and say what you want to say, I agree. Whatever is said is not going to change my beliefs, no matter what the case, and I believe that my God knows this. Religion is a personal thing and people should stop yelling about it in the news IMO.

People get upset and attempt to defend their religions when they are ridiculed because it questions their beliefs. It questions what they think to be true and by defending their religion they feel that they are justifying it.
Also some people LIKE to think that they are defending their God or Goddess/es because it makes them feel important.

You Are Right !!!
But I m too emotional to stop myself from asnwering such question....Not because i feel that i m defending Allah, I know He doesn't need such things.. Being Almighty He doesn't care wht peoples think or say about Him .And i m also 100% sure that i m wasting my time by arguing , but realy can't see peoples insulting my religion and spreading false things about it. See everything is relative, Our muslims are suffering around and still they are bashed for being terrorists and evil, because peoples are brainwashed against islam, i feel it unjustice, I don't want justice from them, infact damn care wht they think but i know these things ultimatly increases the sufferings of peoples who are under attacks of some evil powers. I just feel that I m fighting for their rights !!! Or atleast i feel satisfied that i have done my job.oh Btw i never get upset , i love to upset the one who is trying to get others upset :P
Peace be with you !!!

As an atheist, I feel rather afraid of the hostile nature that some theists exhibit. I really do fear for my life, as long as religion is around. It's not about being right, it's about being safe at the end of the day.

"I agree with you. My only question would be...when Christians DO get upset, they might boycott a movie or a product."
"When your Muslim brothers get ticked-off - they strap on bombs, blow up buses and cut off people's heads."
Father K,
That is not an equivalent example. An equivalent example would be Christians bombing abortion clinics.
Anyways, you should know those are extremists, which all religions have as a by-product. Do you think Christians bombing abortion clinics really represent Christianity? Do you think Mulims cutting off people's heads really represent Islam?
Of course not.

Our religion becomes our lifestylr and no one wants their lifesyle to be ridiculed. Everyone wants to prove a point. I never really engage myself in such conversations, I know I get too emotional. Even the "bible" tells me not to!!!
