Believe it or not, now the scientists are saying the primary cause is cows passing gas. I'm not kidding, that's what they are saying. Source: http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17594701&BRD=1697&PAG=461&dept_id=44551&rfi=6
But if you want facts... actually the temperature of the earth has increased less than 7/10 of 1 degree (C) from 1880 to 2005. That is an increase of about 1 degree (F) in 125 years. You may choose to believe that is global warming or you may not. Here is a link taking you to a NASA chart showing that temperature chart. http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. Some say that 1 degree is enough to impact the global climate, others say it's not. Most proponents of global warming think the earth's temerature has risen much more than that and don't even know that it has only risen by 1 degree. But the charts do not lie as do the proponents on both sides of this issue. The average temperature in the Antarctica is 109 degrees below zero. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antarctica#Climate It seems to me 108 below (one degree warmer) is still pretty cold and not enough to melt anything. But there are those that say it will.
Back in the '70s all the hype was about global COOLING and another ice age was coming. I remember that they blamed pollution for that too. They said that all the pollution was darkening the skies and not as much sun was coming through so the earth was cooling off. It took many years to discovere that they were mistaken and it was all just hype. So when someone says, "the sky is falling" don't believe everything you hear on either side of the issue. There are Spin Doctors galore out there.
Most of the time people will form an opinion and not really be informed about the subject with which they become so opinionated about. So it's best that you not form your opinions from other's opinions, (as in this forum) but on the facts presented. (Many do not provide any proof or links to prove their point, just their opinion.) With that said we do have a resposiblily to do our part by doing whatever is within your power to keep our planet alive and well.

I hope that helps...

I don't know how much I can contribute in this regard, but here goes my try! The green house name itself suggests to a condition where the energy which enters into the glass house is trapped inside and thus the inside temp rises and keeps it warm for the plats inside it. The green houses gases do the same thing and that's why the name "Green House Effect". The avg temp is rising and the climatic changes are abrupt and so is the recent damage in the North Pole. Scientists have suggested if this growing temp prevails the Ice of North Pole would all melt and you can reach the top of the world in a ship! The main causes are the gases like Co2 , CO, NO2, NO and Sulpher gases. They have made a canopy, for which the sun's energy that reaches the earth during the day time and normally leaves during the night, can not continue in the normal manner, and everyday we are accumulating more heat! Natural causes are there but the main problem started from the days of Industrial revolution in manchester! Still today, the smoke and the waste products generated by the So called first world countries are so huge that so called second world and thirld world countried never match to that huge volume. yet, we all are paying the price and the politicians go on propaganda of some other "theories" so that the polluting systems can go on they can "earn". But we all have to pay the price. I have recently read the news that, due to this global worming the glacier "Gangotri" , the main source of the heart of india, the river Ganges has reduced by miles and everyday it is shrinking! The good news is like , the new cars which run on Water and batteries will be running more and more as we will hopefully see the end of petrol and other petroleum products by the end of 2050, and probably in Discovery channel I had seen that by 2020, most of the cars in europe and america will run on batteries and water, and there will be significant changes in the pollution problem solving issues on positive note. Also, the industries need to use clean energy from sun or water or wind, and offcourse the technology regarding the production of electricity from those sources (mainly solar) need to improve more and then only we may move into a cleaner and greener earth. The fate of this world lies with us only!!

Its just gases like CO2 and N2 trapping the suns rays and amplifying them before they are sent into the atmosphere we live in. The gases come from mostly natural things. As a matter of fact I think humans only contribute like 3% or something like that. Plants and animals die and decompose and that releases all sorts of gases into the air. The Great Salt Lake has these inversion thingys which also contribute. Don't get to worked up about global warming. Its not going to be a problem that we ever made or anything we can fix, so no use worrying.

Volcanic Eruptions Large volcanic eruptions can throw such a lot filth into the sky that the filth acts as a guard to sun radiation and factors a cooling fashion within the surroundings. You usually can’t do not forget such an eruption as they're infrequent and rare occurances. Sunspots Changes within the Earth’s sun radiation phases may have a few influence at the Earth’s local weather. Increased sun recreation can motive brief-time period warming cycles at the Earth. The Wobbly Earth As the Earth spins, it does now not obtain excellent rotation. It honestly wobbles relatively, hence alternately exposing the northern and southern latitudes to extra and no more sun radiation. This wobble within the Earth’s rotation has been inflicting alterations within the temperature of the surroundings for lots of hundreds of thousands of years. Humans Are a More Dangerous Cause of Global Warming Now that you just appreciate the typical factors, it's predominant to seem on the human factors. While the alterations in sun recreation and the Earth’s rotation are typical parties which have been going on for lots of millennia, there's transparent clinical consensus that international warming is truly and that persons are side of the trouble. [a million] In reality, 1998-2007 was once a list-breaking decade for the common floor temperature on this planet, which are not able to be defined through typical factors on my own. [two] Is Catastrophe Around the Corner? Can you suppose disastrous storms like Hurricane Katrina fitting more and more widespread and potentially extra devastating? What approximately the whole lot of Manhattan being completely submerged? These are 2 of many feasible influence of unchecked international warming, consistent with Steve Sawyer, a local weather coverage professional at a UN local weather difference convention. [three] Urgent movement is imperative to battle those results. We are not able to manage to pay for to attend because the healthiness of you and your youngsters is at stake. It is as much as you to take accountability to your movements. But don’t melancholy: you've a lot more vigor than you believe.
