Seeking: Yes, I know suicide isn't an option. But failure to go for a run or eat more spinach isn't suicide, is it?

I believe that I chose to come here for this life for specific purpose. I live my life, as we all do, day to day. I have hopes for the future and regrets of the past. When it is all over, I hope that I achieved my purpose for coming.

This is an interesting question... one that I have given considerable thought to over the past years.
Personally I don't think that you should prolong your life if you chose not to. I am not talking about suicide, although, I don't believe that if you kill yourself God will hold that against you. God knows your heart and He knows the reasons why we do things.
If you get a disease and chose not to undergo invasive treatment that will only give you a few extra months to live, I don't think there is any shame or sin in that.
We all have to die. Death is the portal to heaven. Death should be embraced and welcomed. Death is our friend because it's only through Death that we can go home.

Because the majority of people are afraid of death, even if they say they are not. Death is the ultimate unknown and it is natural to fear the unknown.
Also taking vitamins and exercising is a way of making you look better. Without exercise most people would get fat, without vitamins you can have bad skin and if you are fat and have bad skin, then you are judged by the general public and frowned upon. So prolonging your life is a way of putting off death; the unknown, and making yourself fit in with society.

Great Question! My question is where does it say that people who die are in heaven in the scriptures? I have never read anything that says that. When Jesus told the parable (Luke 16:19-31) of the rich man and Lazarus, the rich man could see Abraham and Lazarus, so I don't get the impression that either was in heaven. I really don't think that the rich man was in heaven, because he said that he was in anguish in the flames and wanted Lazarus to just put a drip of water on his tongue. I don't believe that people are in heaven at this time, before Jesus comes back.
God Bless You

Because this life should be fun too no matter what may happen after death.

*some people are happier exercising and eating spinach but they may die at 45. Some people are happier laying on a couch smoking cigarettes and they live to be 100.

You are right. But do you want to suffer a lot before you die. People who take vitamins, or do exercise do know that they are gonna die one day. But how bad and tough is it going to be. More than that you will lead a comfortable and a pleasant life, as long as you are alive. Unless you are a sanyasi or something like that to call all this pain and pleasure as "maya", it makes a hell a lot of difference during your penultimate hours.

My belief is that we have decided to come here (physical realm) so we (soul level) can experience what is net to be remembered.

In my opinion I suppose it does not matter with regards to prolonging ones life. However; we are creators of our reality and the choice is up to the individual if one was to life this current life in whatever manner one desires.

it's a great question, my dad who's an atheist always challenges me by saying, "If people really thought there was a heaven, they'd be shooting themselves to get in". i think he has a point. I think even people who are so "sure" that they're going have some little doubt, espeically in regards just to how good it will really be. think about it, how many christians have health insurance, really good health insurance, everyone wants to prolong life as long as possible even christians.

who says its certain that you go to heaven when you die?!
heaven is just like a reward for all your good doings here on earth.. you have to work for it.. its not something that is just handed down to you for free.. of course not! Heaven is a GOAL, a TARGET, our AIM... but of course we have to abide by the rules and regulations ( im talking about The Commandments, of course ) that will pave our way to heaven.. so how can you work fto get to heaven when you're 6 feet under?! think about it.

Life is a gift from God. Eternal Life is the best gift of all. What we have here is temporary that we may be tried and tested to see if we are fit to inherit that Immortality like our God's...
