I agree and it certainly doesn't invalidate my faith one iota. The Holy Scriptures are not collection of science books or physics books or astronomy books - they have one purpose only - "these things are written so that you may believe on (Jesus) the son of God and believing, have life in His name".

I can only speculate on the reasons. Going on research and historical periods of the past there has been a pattern of conflict between science and religion.
Galileo was punished by the Catholic church for his presenting the idea that the Earth revolved around the sun and not the other way around. Plus other discoveries.
I personally feel that the Bible is open to many interpretations. I personally believe that some elements of evolution, are in place and that a Supreme Being (God) created it
Even most of the order of creation in the Book of Genesis aligns with a lot of the evolutionary traits. To wit: the creation of the Heavens (Universe) to our planets, to air, water life in the seas then to land with humans at the end.
Do I feel that all of this took place in six days? No! Again; it is the overall text and not the literal sense.
Again; who is to say what is the actual interpretation of the Bible today?

For most people 83% (a personal poll I asked 10 people if they think creationism is true 9 said yes "2-3% error". Dang I should go work for the media )
Numerous people wrote the bible and it has lasted thousands of years, one man wrote the origin of species, It has lasted a little over a century. Although many scientists support Darwin, many don't, same with creationists, even to this day Darwin's theory is being ridiculed, I just watched it on the history channel and discovery channel. Scientists such as Einstein are applauded, with well deserved praised. Unfortunately, future scientists/physicists are constantly countering a lot of his claims and proving him wrong (black holes as an example) . Scientists also base a lot of their time lines on bible references. Not to mention scientific theories change every 5-10 years while biblical theories have stayed consistent over thousands of years.
I think the creationists would be more accepting of evolution (as a theory) if creationism was accepted as a theory also. Both theories sound pretty idiotic, one says "a divine being who was always there created everything we see" another says "everything we see today was started by a speck of dust that was always there or created itself" although not direct quotes, you get the drift. Nobody wants to hear they are wrong. If that was false no one would fight/argue about anything. Everyone wants equality, but the US has become an equality for one, whoever complains, can file a lawsuit, and can gain media sympathy the fastest. That's why this debate is ongoing, evolutionists were faster (survival of the fittest) creationist realized something was unfair and are trying to overturn a decision that has already been made (took 13 years for prohibition to be overturned and this is a lot more complicated)
I am a down to earth creationist/evolutionist. I believe a supreme being created everything and we have adapted to adjust to our surroundings. First sign of evolution in the bible, (aside from humans being able to procreate) Gen 3:1-10. Eve first, then Adam wanted to become better and enhance themselves so to speak. He probably didn't realize he was naked from sin filling his heart, the world/weather was no longer perfect and he had to protect his body (cold, rain, ice, hail fire and brimstone, etc.).
I am a christian because, a few hundred years ago scientists, ministers (whatever you want to call them) said if you tie a rock to a person (mob style) and throw them into water, if they live they truly are witches, if they die, God rest their souls. I kind of feel this way about carbon dating methods, in a few hundred years just imagine what we are going to be laughed at about. Plus in the bible it doesn't say God made everything "new" when he created animals and humans, he didn't make them infants, they were obviously adult like beings. If you put that into perspective rocks could have been in their "adult" state at the time of creation and time was spaced apart to ensure a continuous cycle...anyways I'm babbling now good luck

evolution contradicts Gods word. Pray tell me what enormous scientific evidence do you have to support evolution as true. I am a christian and a creationist i believe 100% what the bible says. God created the world not the "big bang". I studied alot about the differences between evolution and creationism and can see that evolutionists have no valid evidence one such example circular reasoning using the fossil to date the rock and the rock to date the fossil its thinking in a circle. "Genesis 1:1 in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth"

Yes it does, In Genesis 1 it says evening and morning were the first day, evening and morning were the second, sundown to sundown, thats 24 hours not many millions of years creatures DID NOT evolve thay and you were created, and The book of John tells us Jesus Christ was the creative person of The Godhead that was the active agent so we are calling God a liar, if you took the raw materials for say a rocket, and put them in the container would you get by shakeing it up a rocket or must someone design and make it, you have a designer, the ten commandments [not suggestions] are the basis for all governments laws that has a country you would ever want to visit much less live in, countrys that have kicked God out are places animals are not save in. Ah, but it does. The entire idea of evolution is contrary to what we know about the nature of God.
It comes down to Genesis 1:1, do you believe that in the beginning God created everything out of nothing?
Let me ask it another way, do you believe that God has to follow the rules of creation He made? Rules like gravity? Then explain the miracles, the parting of the Red Sea, the Walking on Water, feeding of the 5000, etc.
God is outside the creation, not a part of it. He does not have to obey the rules of creation.
Ask yourself this: Why do you want to believe in Evolution so badly? What need does it fulfill for you?
If you do the research you will find many facts on both sides of the issues. It is simply which set of fact you chose to believe in. So why evolution? Why does God have to take a million years to do something if He can do it one second?
Lastly, check out the book of Genesis. It clearly states that God created plants BEFORE He made the sun, if that doesn't slap the face of evolution, I don't know what does...

Believe in evolution is call God a lier, because the Bible is the word of God,so if the Bible(God's word) say: God create every thing but you accept evolution that meants you don't believe every thing God said.
By the way,you are talking about a enormous scientific evidence,
tell me please in which museum people can have a look at the fossils of a half- monkey-half-man. If we really came from some kind of monkey, why the human body can not accept a blood transfusion from a monkey.
God Bless You!

Another thing evolution does is make the whole idea about man being 'special' tricky.
All Christians believe man has a soul, but most do not believe animals do. Man is 'special' in this aspect. If you believe in evolution you need to then ask, what's so special about man? Wouldn't other animals have souls? If so how should they be treated?
See, it gets tricky.
Almost all 'evolutionists' I know completely duck this question. Evolution has no real meaning to them. They just like to tease Christians with it. It must be nice living in such an untouchable world.

Evolution does invalidate the Bible because for man to have involved there would need to be death before man, but Biblically sin doesn't enter the world until man, and there is no death without sin. Thereby Evolution would mean that God created death, thusly invalidating the idea of original sin and the need for a Savior

I am a Christian but my disbelief of the theory of Evolution came about before my Christianity did. I can buy evolution within a specie's. Another words adaptation, physical improvement etc..etc.. If a man grows a sixth finger that to me would be believable evolution. He is still a human, but I cannot buy and no one has shown any evidence (believable to me) that one specie's completely changed into another completely different specie's

Genesis Chap 1
11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so.
12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years,
15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so.
16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.
17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth,
18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.
19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
Notice here that God created the vegetation on the third day and even though it mentions the end of the day, God did not create the sun and moon until the next day. (God does not need the moon and sun to define time.) The green vegetation could not have survived very long without sunlight so it could not have been 1,000 years for each "day" of creation.
To its credit, evolution IS a science based on what can be seen and determined by physical means. The problem is that evolution assumes that all things happen now at the same rate as they always have. That may not be true and since no one wrote down what things were like 10,000 or 20,000 years ago, we can't be certain what conditions were like or that they did progress at the same rate. Carbon 14 testing has been discredited by several christians who brought bones of animals that died only ten years before to be tested and were given dates of four to five thousand years old so Carbon 14 is not perfect.
It is possible that the glob of dirt and rock that God would use to make the earth existed long before He actually began the work of filling the earth with plants and animals, but that still won't answer all the differences between creation and evolution.
I confess that Christians have a hard time explaining how humans could have survived with dinosaurs roaming the earth, but the last time I read up on it human bones and dinosaur bones had not been found in the same place together so it is possible that God somehow kept them seperate? We do know that mankind quickly learned to make spears and other weapons so it is possible that dinosaurs like t-rex decided humans were too troublesome to bother with for such a small snack. Plus humans took to caves very early and that would have provided shelter from them. I am certain a human could hear them coming from quite a long distance away giving the lucky ones time to duck into caves and maybe even throw burning sticks at t-rex. That is, IF they lived at the same time.!!!!
I know t-rex would have trouble catching me because he would be slipping and sliding in what was left of yesterdays food exiting my backsides. I saw Jurassic park and it scared the bejabbers out of me to think of having to live with such monsters. But, maybe that is why our subconscious dreams up monsters?
It is a bit of a stretch to think mindless blobs of life could "decide" to evolve into more intelligent creatures when they had no ability to comprehend greater intelligence.
Many of the animals on earth have intricate patterns of behavior that suggest a greater intelligence guiding them than they themselves posess. Look at the humans. Incredibly efficient, intelligent, and able to adapt to any environment.
Evolution is a bit like thinking you could toss all the components of a computer into a large rotating drum and after enough time has past the components would fall into the correct positions to make a workable PC.
It has only been about 1000 years since mankind studied the apes and compared them to humans, but there is not one incidence of the apes evolving into more intelligent creatures. Why would the apes have stop evolving when they have a perfect example of a higher life form to use as a model?
I live near where there are Moraines left by melting glaciers. The physical evidence is undeniable. As I see it, the only problem between evolution and creation is the time span. And I know it is a very LARGE difference but soon global warming is going to uncover Noahs' ark and there will be one more thread of proof the bible is not a fairy tale.
