I'd have to say French, it's a much more widespread language.
I studied French and German at the same time in school and wish I had only studied French.

Having studied all 4 at various levels, I'd say that German is the toughest. The spoken German is quite handy for an English speaker to gain knowledge of. Spanish and French are linguistically based the identical manner. Latin is the foundation of each Spanish and French, and Latin is an excessively pleasant language, although the sentence constitution is bizarre, and so they ought to have a gender hooked up to each unmarried factor. German, nevertheless, is likely one of the grammatically so much complicated languages available in the market. They even conjugate their articles. These folks are whacked out (no offense to them).

French, is used in many different countries. Sure the dialects will be different but it would be a good language to learn. French is derived from the Latin language, which will help you out when trying to learn scientific jargon.

German on the other hand is a Germanic language, which is very similar to the Slavic languages. It is a harsh, but beautiful language. If you are traveling in Eastern Europe, this language will be beneficial.

My advice.....

Learn both!

You should consider German. Historically, the Germans have more scientific achievements than the French.

French is almost useless these days anyways, I mean, have you been to France lately? Almost everyone speaks Arabic, Farsi, Armenian or something of that nature.

(I know the answer was short, but I think I explained it well and it was to the point.)

Good luck with all your endeavors!

In my opinion you should learn German. It is true that both languages are useful. German is harder than French, but if you want so much to be a scientist don't give up...learn every thing useful for you.

German is easier than french. More useful in science? Which have you heard more about: german scientists or french scientists?
