Fear? Never. But usually hypothetical questions provide either unrealistic parameters or contradictory statements that cannot be rectified. Often they lack a logical premise and I usually won't waste my time with them.

most hypothetical questions stir some stuff or give rise to another sets of hypothetical inquiries.
why are people afraid of them? it is because they can hardly be answered by one statement and there are no specific basis for the question itself. answering hypothetical questions is like suicide. you kill yourself thinking of an answer and then there comes a swarm of contentions and you'll get drowned.
what's the point?
no point.

sometimes those hypothetical questions aren't even possible. so it's not being afraid it's just frustration that you are trying to say something happens that isn't physically possible. another reason is the hypothetical questions are created to automatically contradict what the person is trying to tell you so its again frustration to the person speaking.

I was afraid of that one.

The hypothetical questions steer you from clear and clean thoughts. When you think of thinks that never happen, they might kill what will.
