I was recently casted to play Aladdin for a local theater group's production of Aladdin (duh), but my schedule conflicts with my Honor Choir's evening rehearsals. I have to decide between the two in 12 hours.
I really would like to be in Aladdin because two months ago I auditioned for another musical with great anticipation for a lead role, but didn't make the cut. This would be my chance to show off to my friends and surprise my family. Plus, my sister loves Aladdin, and she would really love it, I know it.
But with Honor Choir, it's something I've already spent a great deal of work on, and I've already paid for half the cost of our trip to San Antonio. If I quit, all my friends would be disappointed (I don't know anybody from the cast of Aladdin except the director) along with the choir director. Honor Choir is something I could just join again next semester, but it's really a big deal to be in one of the best choirs in the state...

Wow, you do have a tough decision. My suggestion is to stay with the Honor Choir. If you have spent precious time to work hard for your trip to San Antonio, why throw it away. Also you are part of an amazing group. According to you, this choir is the best in the state. Not that many people could get into this choir, because it is so selective. I bet in this choir, whatever vocal part you sing, there are not a lot of you. When I was in my Chamber Choir in college, there were only maximum 4 singers in each vocal part. Meaning only 4 sopranos, altos, tenors and basses.
Imagine if you were the choir director. If you had a great singer leave all of a sudden, would you really consider taking him/her back? I think leaving will make your choir believe you are not faithful to them and may not take you back next semester.
I understand that being in the lead is a great experience. If you were chosen to do both before either started, I would probably say go with the theater. As one person stated, see if you can be an understudy, and assist when the choir doesn't need you. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

Choose honors choir. It sounds like you are on the road to becoming a great musician, and there will always be musicians and if they want you in the lead now, they will only want you in the lead more after you graduation. But, honors choir is going to end pretty soon, and you'll never get it back no matter how talented you become. Go to San Fransico with them, and enjoy that time with your friends and take a lot of pictures.. they will perform alladdin agian some day, and you will have many many more lead roles- you don't need to take every nice role that comes to you. Good luck!

Dang - that IS a tough decision
Off the top of my head, I would pick the honor choir because I've always gone to the musical event with my friends rather than the one where I didn't know as many people
They would both look good on a resume and I'm sure you'll get great experience out of both
Consider these questions if you haven't:
which one will you have more fun with?
which one will you remember the longest (years from now)?
which one will be the greater challenge (in a good way)?
Also, is not going on the honor choir trip going to upset your director? does he hold grudges? if so, you really never want to upset directors!

I would chose Aladdin. It is a great opportunity for you to spread your wings and meet new people. Plus you said you can join Honor Choir again next semester, you might not have another chance to be Aladdin.

Do the musical. This a great chance to show YOUR talent. Choir is a great thing, but as you said, you can just join again next year. Always take the opportunities that may not come again. Good luck to you!

Maybe you could be an understudy and compromise with your choir director on rehearsals. The Drama teacher and the Choir director may be willing to share you. It's a good thing to be in demand, isn't it?

You should choose whichever one you think would be more fun, but also which one would benefit you more. You should make sure that whichever one you do, it is something you will be happy with and not something you are doing to please someone else. Choose the one you think is the best for you and what you plan on doing later in life, etc. Also, you should make the choice and decide you are going to enjoy it - don't second guess yourself.

i understand at my highschool you had to be good at making a music to get interior the Chamber team, yet you in addition to mght had to be good at thought as properly. making a music properly did no longer get you in immediately. in case you ought to make an excuse, or in all threat it is real for you....purely say that the audition went properly yet you purely could no longer stick on your instructor in accordance with loss of music thought expertise. Its a legitamate reason many human beings don't get in.
